That hip check he threw last night was NOT a penalty. Just a good check. |

Is that an NHL network show that cited it the hit of the night? If so, are they condoning "illegal" checks? In other words, the ref had his head up his ass on that call....it was clean and beautiful. |

It's the type of penalty you get when you are up 4 - nothing. Not a penalty, but at least it didn't hurt the outcome of the game. |

It's a great check to any other team in the league. If you're an Islander, its a penalty. There is NO WAY that was even close to a penalty, but if they can call it on us they will. Makes me wonder about Wang's standing with the league. Like, are they pushing this loser of an owner out the door? He also doesn't seem to have the gonads (Garth either) to stand up and say "Hey, WTF?" |

Different game. The clip was from 2 games ago v. WAshington. He got penalized for a hip check against Minnesota. I saw the hit and thought it was legal, but if the hit connected with the knee or below, then it is considered a trip. Hits cannot be below the knee. I thought he got the Wild player in the thigh |

So, you want GArth to bitch to the league about 1 blown call on a bang-bang play when we were up 4-0 and won the game 4-1? Nothing like bringing the wrath of the league and the refs on us in the future. This nonsense about "oh the refs hate us" is uttered by every fanbase when the refs blow a call. Guess what...refs make mistakes. I thought this was one of them. Refs don't like to make mistakes and if the ref watches the tape and sees it as a hit above the knee, which I thought it was, then they will probably say they blew the call. There is a difference between the incompetence of Colin Campbell and some "organized" thing against this franchise by the refs. One is actually. The other is fantasy. |

With all due respect, I4C, if your opinion is that this is just another ho hum the refs made a bad call opinion, so be it. I will not get into a pissing match with you about it. But if you think there is no big red X on the back of this franchise by the league and the refs, AND that any other GM worth his check wouldn't stand up and scream about it, then you haven't been watching the same team as the rest of us. I guess after the Gillies decsion you may cahnge your mind. Again, no pissing match, but the fantasy and reality comment? Right string, wrong yo-yo. |

I have long felt Colin blow Campbell deals with us in a different manner than he does other teams. I do not think that about the refs. Unless they are getting such order from Colinblow himself, and such orders would have surfaced on Deadspin or something by now, I don't buy it. Refs want to get calls right. Ask Flyers fans and they will bitch about how the refs have it in for them. The Maple Laughs fans still complain that Kerry Frazier had it in for them and he's been retired for 2 seasons now. There is a difference between the "league office" and the refs on the rink. This was a blown call...plain and simple. And there is no reason for a GM to make a stink out of 1 blown call that had no effect on a 4-1 W. All it will do is put us on the radar of refs in the future. Ask Vancouver if they think their player got fair calls the rest of this season after crying about how the ref "was out for him". Wait--- Philly, Vancouver, us...pretty soon, the league will have it in for ... well...the entire league. except Sid of course

I4C, did you ever see the emails that Colin Campbell wrote to the head of officiating regarding Marc Savard? Emails that were leaked and were personal, with Campbell showing no class at all whatsoever. He has CONSTANT contact with the referees. I don't think that the referees are out to get the Islanders as a whole, so maybe the Hillen thing is being overblown, but Konopka, Gillies, Martin, Haley... they definitely have a bullseye on their backs, absolutely. Colin Campbell isn't just bad, he's a disgrace. He's a fraud and everyone knows it. And Bettman loses tons of credibility because he defends this clown time and time again. |

I don't think the clipping call was on the ref's...but we have absolutely seen an increase in misconduct penalties since Pittsburgh. I think Konopka has two, Hamonic one, and either Martin or Haley got another. |

snow... never did see those. If you could provide a link, would greatly appreciate it. The thing about Campbell is, he's just so incompetent that it is even hard to make a case of bias against him. Do I think he's biased? Yeah. I do think he has a problem with this org...but he ffff's up decisions all over the league. Remember when Witt got dropped by Brashear and Colin started spouting off about Witt's toughness? But the same week the Rutuu on Nashville suckered a Dallas player (Robidas?) and got 4 games...for the same thing. But we see it all over the league. Different punishments for the same infraction...it isn't just us who has this happen. I think he's SOOOOO FFFFFFFING INCOMPETENT that his imcompetence makes him appear more biased than he is. I think he's biased but he's just SUCKS at his job more than he's biased imho. Let's remember, we denied him a ring in 1982. He was a terrible player, a lousy head coach and now he's a lousy administrator. I've often said he uses a magic 8 ball and ouija board to suspend players. However, I don't think the ref was looking to get an Islander. I just think it was a bang bang play and the player had dumped the puck in and went ass over teakettle and he blew that call. But if you ask sooo many other teams fans, they will say the same about their team that we say about ours...Colinblow shafted us. |
