Thanks POTI Yeah you guys make a point there about him playing wing. Don't see why he couldn't, he grinds it out in the corners. One of the elements of his game his faceoffs though. Should be interesting to see how it plays out. |

For me, if the decision is made that Bailey is NOT that #2 center, then what the hell is he doing here? We drafted him at #9 overall - we did not draft him that high to be a #3 center. Its time for him to STEP-UP. Again, if the decision is made that he is nothing more than a #3 center than trade him and/or Comeau to get that center here. Brad Richards will probably not come here. To get rid of Konopka just have Bailey as a #3 center makes no sense to me. Franz is the #3 center on this team and Konopka is #4. If Bailey can't hack it as #2 then we make sure he's piece in getting us that center here. I don't like the farting around with Konopka - sign him NOW. As we have seen over the years, it is SO hard to find a 4th line contributing member of the team. Faceoffs, fighting, team attitude, team leader, etc. Good luck trying to find a replacement. Sometimes the decisions this team makes can drive me up the wall. |

Well, to answer your question he's here because the Islanders made a mistake. He could have stayed in junior until he was AHL eligible. Then he could have stayed there until he dominated on that level on a consistant basis. Unfortunately, the Isles have no choice now but to find the best role possible for him to help the team win, not find the best role for him to develop. They blew that opportunity by recalling him prematurely from Bridgeport this season. Maybe he'll become that #2 center one day, maybe not. But I don't want to sit around and wait to find out. Most important thing to me is becoming a playoff team in 2011-12. |
