I know Im alone on here, but I dont know what else Garth could do with a shoestring budget he hasnt done.
Honestly, he's done a decent job given the situation when he took over and the payroll given.
Vinny, Mistake one, signing DP to 15 year deal. Not one playoff round victory yet he went along with what Wang wanted. Been laughed at ever since.
Steve, whe the boss says jump, you ask how high,,,,,,,,,,,,,,or you can just report the the unemployment line. I think that holds true for just about everyone we know.
Neil Smith and Pat LaFontaine wouldn't stand for the BS from Wang. I'm not even excited for free agency. I know the drill. BS, BS rumors, false expectations and alot of dreaming from fans making lineups and thinking we'll be healthy next year. We have crap running the engine. Crap strength and conditioning coach and our results reflect it. The injuries are no surprise to me. If anyone has heard Jaffe's interview with Botta and Pat Flatley on HNL this past weekend, you'd be in tune with what I've been saying all along. Glad they see the issues. 6 games to go.
and who has hired either one of them since?
I'm not saying you are wrong about Garth, but people need, imho, to stop bringing up Neil Smith. Yeah, he won a cup with the rags, but he mortgaged their future to do it and hasn't been TOUCHED by another organization since...
and it isn't because he hasn't been looking.

I miss these and want more of them

They should have the lowest tix prices since they have the lowest payroll.
There you go.

Are they ever going to realize it's not the price of the ticket but what you're getting for it? Win more games, be a perennial playoff contender and the folks will fill the old barn, warts and all, at any price they want to charge...just that simple.
Getting in to see shitty hockey at a discount does not sound all that appealing to me...Get better, give us a reason to lay down our hard earned bucks, and we will come back in DROVES as we did back in 2001...short of that, this is just another gimmick as far as I'm concerned...and a weak one at that.

I'm in 124. My STH pricing went down, which is good news. However, my threshold for pain has its limits. Hopefully, next year won't be my last.

My tickets didn't even go down, they stayed the same. Therefore, if I even do re-up, I'll be moving up to the 300s. Either way they won't be getting as much money. And the only way I re-up is like RW said, they improve the on-ice product. If we were going for the President's Trophy right now people wouldn't care if they played in Newbridge Ice Rink.

Welcome to NYIC, TrophyHubby. Nice site you got there. When are you running the Opus cruise line deal again?

I've been good brother, a little older and I'd like to think a little wiser. Still living and dying (mostly dying) with this club. Trying to keep things in perspective. How are you? Wish you'd post here more often man, you're still right on point as always.

I refrained form posting my harsh opinions in this thread until I saw some like minded concerns.
They made this sound like they're doing us Islanders fans a favor. Like they're REWARDING US. REALLY? DP rules still exist. Leadership void still exists.
Worst of all, the page where they minimally explain the tix packages has the audacity to state:
- Quote:
-
We're committed to Long Island. We're committed to seeing this thing through. We're committed to teamwork. We're committed to you. We're all Islanders.
Get the F*** outta here with that bullspit. If you're so "committed" why did they circumvent the cap floor this year? Why has the owner gone in hiding since he stated he'll ride out the lease? F you with this nonsense. Now you want our money? Show your "committment". Prove it by hiring capable people and give them the freedom to do their jobs.
Also notice how the "REQUIRED fields are NAME, ADDRESS, HOME PHONE and EMAIL.
They'll be contacting you to make you feel guilty for not "supporting" the team when the owner is just riding this out.
F him.

They wouldn't be very good at marketing the team if truths were to be used in the campaign. You're in advertising Steve, aren't you? The whole idea is to create an illusion of value. At that is exactly what they are doing. The loyal fans know what it is. The peripheral fans may buy into it. It is what it is.

Absolutely Jackace! and the sad reality is...if the peripheral fans, casual/moderate fans and even the die hards that look past the off ice stuff didn't support the team monetarily, god knows where we'd be.
