Cappy would make a good assistant coach to Doug Weight :goofy2:

Once upon a time someone thought Butch Goring would make a nice head coach too...

Not to change the subject but anyone else notice how Capuano's hair has sprouted some noticeable grays recently?

Hard to tell with that 80's feathered cut :rotflmao:

Cappy's hair = Nolan's ties & Stirling's suits

Cappy's hair = Hair Club for Men
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

I like that Capuano lets the team have a set while Gordo had them sitting to piss. I hate feeling the team is full of sissy's, and I hope the tide has turned in that regard. If you can't win, at least stick up for your team and be unhappy about losing.

Good point.
Capuano seems like he puts less pressure on them and perhaps they're playing for more than just pride but also for him?
Can't believe I just complimented the bastid.

Cappy stays behind the bench in an assistant's role. New qualified head coach. Weight to asst GM spot, or a spot similar to that Sillinger got with Edmonton.

That wouldn't be bad. I kind of like that idea.

Would you seriously want to taint Weight's legacy by allowing him to become an Asst. GM to Garth Snow and Chuck? He deserves better. What is he gonna learn here on the Island...what not to do and keep your mouth shut...or get fired 41 days into his tenure?

There are enough taints on this Isles if you ask me. :ph43r:

Jack, he's another voice with respect around the league but you bring up a good point.
If he's just a mouthpiece. then what?

You know where stand with Snow, but all along, if Weight replaced Capuano, I'd be worried we might have another Devs (John MacLean) situation.

Agreed steve. I would much rather Weight become an asst coach. I would NOT like to see him become head coach anywhere without gaining experience first. Asst. GM, maybe, but I don't get the feeling he'd like being an executive.

I would doubt that Cappy gets demoted with the way we're playing and what he has done with a pile of crap this season. And in truth, he does not deserve to be.

I stand by my original on this, he will be behind the bench for next season as head coach. he's cheap, doesn't rock the boat and if we keep this up for another 20 games he's it.

Doug Weight? Head caddy at Bethpage Black is more in his future than assistant GM coach or waterboy, IMO.

Ok, so Capuano has pretty much kept most of the lines together with very minor tweaks.
The players are saying alot of great things about him. But does everyone agree that
he's done a better job than we expected?

100% Agree, I thought the team would do better just because of the change. I mean look back to the last time we had a mid-season coaching change. Brad Shaw in for Steve Sterling, now it was much later in the season but the team played better and we got to see some of the kids play.

That being said, I like his demeanor....very relaxed and seems honest about his answers...or maybe less robotic. Now is that just who Cappy is or is he a guy coaching knowing that at worst he goes back to be the Sound Tigers coach. He doesn't try to make himself the story ever so his personality is very intriguing.

However, has he had to make any "tough" coaching decisions yet? What happens if DP comes back this season...will Cappy play him more then he might want too? "IF" JT or Moulson went cold would he move them off the top line to shake things up? Cappy has been coaching slow and steady which might be the most refreshing thing.

I'm really starting to be torn on whether he should come back, I think if they are going to trot the same basic lineup out next year as this years then I say bring him back but he they are going to acquire 2-3 higher profile Vets then a more experienced coach but he better.

That would be cool because no matter who I have on the bag, I just can't par that damn 5th hole. Hardest hole I've ever played and that includes the 18th at Carnoustie.

Perhaps Doug can help me out on that one.

I don't want him back.  I'll be blunt about that.  This team makes way too many head scratching plays and decisions with the puck, the powerplay may have its good games but it's sloppy, and there is just too much general sloppiness that I honestly don't believe would happen under a more experienced coach.

HOWEVER (and this is a big however), I think that if this team ever again reaches prominence, Jack Capuano will have a piece of that because this team has come together under his watch and they are playing a lot more like professionals with him at the helm.  I know there is a lack of talent that he cannot do anything about, but it seems like the players respond to him.  Maybe he earns another year or two.  If this team ever becomes a top team again, I honestly feel that he won't be the coach.  But he may be the coach to get them to come together as a young unit and then turn the team over to a guy who can take them to another level.  We'll see how they finish the season.

The one situation I do NOT want to be in is to get off to a bad start next year and have people calling for his head.  The Mets did it with Jerry Manuel last year and it was a mistake.  It's better to start camp under a new regime if it's going to happen at all.

Bang!!!

I thought there'd be more widespread support for him but I like a lot of what I'm reading in this thread.
