And by the way, if anyone hasn't noticed- this team has not given up, even though we are out of it.
And that has to get Cappy some kudos. He was bristling after the Nielsen hit and he has this team playing hard every night.
And they are standing up for themselves, which is also because of him.
Give the guy another year.
And do it now, before the season ends.

You can't just give Capuano another year...........You give him a two year contract or you go with another coach.
If you really like what he did, then you have to show some commitment to him.

what a stark contrast. we went from a coach with too much instruction and attention to detail, trying to hammer home an AHL system on a young NHL team with little to no leadership/experience to a simpleton who's keep-the-lines-the-same-and-go-with-it approach allowed them to slowly come together and play loosely when there was no pressure.
I still want an experienced NHL coach in here, I want experienced, capable NHL leadership here but in the end when Wang refuses to spend money, Capuano, who I felt would be brought back regardless of results probably would. He's the cheapest solution. Who is the most logical is up for debate.
When the team plays like this and produces in october/november/december, then we can talk about how good/effective mr "they battled..." is.

There is no way the Islanders not offer Cappy a contract. Like you said Depot, he'll be cheap and they will cite just how successful he was in the second half as justification and no one can really say squat. But the pressure will be on him in Oct when games will count.
From my seat it appears the guys have really taken to him as a coach, love playing within this group and everyone is singing cum-bye-ya, so why mess things up right now.

That's the thing right there. Pride. there's PRIDE with this core. Thank you goes to Konopka. They'd better bring him back...Haley too. Not doing so and changing that dynamic could be a bigger mistake than the coach.

I honestly think they aren't bringing Z back...I believe they will move Haley back to his natural center position and play him on the 4th line.
I think your looking at some combination of Comeau,Bailey, Martin, Haley, Hunter and AHLer to be named as your bottom six forwards.
They are set on "top 6" forwards. Already signing Montoya(played 21 games for us) and Papsmear tell me all I need to know about signing from here on out.
God I hope I'm wrong but Z just seems to have too much character for Wang's liking.

The Isles aren't in a position to be picky. If they have a chance to land a top 6 forward, they will have to do it regardless of position. If its a center then Z is out. If it's a winger then maybe they move Haley to center or maybe Z comes back. Either way Snow is doing the right thing by waiting.
Konopka is an excellent character guy. He has rubbed off on this team in all the right ways: defending teammates, fighting through injuries, speaking out in the media. However there are other great character guys out there who are better hockey players. Haley and Martin are young and certainly tough enough to play 82 games and be enforcers on this team. If they can add a player who is the right fit for this team at his expense, then that's what has to be done.

Snowy - I agree with the bolded part..which is why I wasn't happy they rushed to sign Papsmear. I'd rather they have signed Z and waited to sing Pap if the grand scheme of things. What was the rush to sign Pap???? At the time of his signing on 2/17 after 56G he had 14G 21A, thats what they were in a rush to lockdown??

Yeah I can't say I disagree Aries. And PH is right. I guess we will have to wait until we see next seasons roster to see what was right. If Konopka is replaced with another fourth liner obviously it makes no sense at all.
