In a perfect world he's not back. Against the Canes, he was caught watching the play and Cole was able to score the go ahead goal. We have too many guys who are 5-6 defensemen. When I say 5-6 defensemen, that's if you want a STANLEY CUP contending team. Radek has been used as a top 3, top 4 guy and because we are lacking, the games where he stands out because of his stickchecks/positioning seem to overshadow the ones where he's out muscled. If they are not going to spend money, then make him an offer or bring up a kid. Our defense sucks. Yes it does, don't kid yourselves. It's not just the goaltending or the injuries. Team defense. Only 3 teams have allowed more goals. A healthy Eaton/Jurcina/Streit/Mottau/MacDonald etc wouldn't change much. You cannot look at guys like MacDonald and Hamonic getting added responsibility/icetime and thriving and expect them to mirror that on a defensive core where they get less minutes. That's why it's imperative to UPGRADE the overall talent on defense. |

Absolutely 1-2 year deal. No one else will come here and the crap (2-3 guys) we have signed for next year aint gonna cut it. Plus Jurvina sure the hell can't stay healthy. |

The beef is he can't stay healthy....well, he stayed healthy more than the average player. His price and ability to match top lines and contribute offense makes this obvious. Want DeHaan? Lose a worse defenseman. If we keep Brutal or -12 in 20 games Mottau or Hillen or Reese over Martinek we are worse off. |

"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS "But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann 查理斯 · 請死你混蛋 | |

I'm tired of having to compare every defenseman to Gervais and Reese. I'm guilty of doing it myself sometimes. It's time to raise the bar around here. Instead of Eaton and Jurcina being known as two of the better defensemen around here, I'd like to see it next year where they are fighting for playing time as the 6th d-man. |
