As with the best thread, there are some not so great things that occurred this year for the Islanders.

At the top of my list is the continuing saga of the Rick. Another year has passed without any resolution on the condition of DP, his ability to play at an NHL level, the distractions he's brought to this club for the last 3 season including this one cannot continue and needs to be resolved.

Also the handling of Chris Botta and his banishment from the Islanders press group has taken new lows now that all three area sports teams writers are showing their support for CB and making Garth look a little ridiculous.

Injuries, injuries, injuries.

Attendance, attendance, attendance.

And I'm sure there is plenty to talk about for this thread too.
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

Totally totally agree Webby that DP's soap opera is at the top of the list........and as long as it is, this franchise will never really make strides.

And you're right, the Botta stuff was embarrassing. The injuries and attendance I agree are factors as well.

Good list IMO.

After the DP saga.....Bailey is the most disappointing Islander of this year. Forgot about him.......which makes him deserving of that.

Bailey has been disappointing. I'm not even close to giving up on him, but I really thought he'd be a more dominant player, especially after the first two weeks of the season.

this should've been his breakout year...many times this year he has shown glimpses of what he can do..and too many times he was invisible..can't blame it one his line mate, coma, when coma will be having career numbers this year....he gets sent to bp, and plays great, like snowman, I think it was him whom said it..they should've left him down there for the year...

can't really blame the switching of him being rw to c...cop out there..alot of players play out of poistion, and still can play the game..bailey has talent, and he is not asserting himself.

Webby I don't want to give up on him either....but to me, Bailey is on the clock. Next year will be his 4th in the NHL.....and if at the end of it, we're seeing the same results out of him, then its time about thinking about moving on without him.

He's Tim Connolly all over again.

while jonseau has sucked most of the year, i think lately he's been much better. i really want to see how he comes out of camp next year before i make a firm judgement...

Scott Gordon and his ego sucked from day one.
I practically did a back flip when they relieved him.

Absolutely a Tim Connolly at this point, Web. Good comparison. He absolutely is.

Lexus.....KO at this point gets some benefit of the doubt coming off a major injury. It'll take time to get the rust off.

If at this point next year we're having this conversation then its a great cause for concern.

But not now IMO.

Yes, the 20 game losing streak. Damn that seems so long ago now.
