Again, the Nords were my 2nd favorite team when they were around, I was sorry to see them go. I also own a replica Michel Goulet jersey. And I'd hate to have to burn it because the Nords faithful try to poach MY team! I'll give you guys the benefit of the doubt for now. But mark my words, stealing another city's team will be bad karma down the road.

I do like the video so far, but I'd probably enjoy it a lot more if I knew french. Just a suggestion, if you guys are gonna promote getting your own team, do some stuff in english too so you can rally support from the REST of north america (i.e. those of us that don't speak french) and not just Quebec.

Michel Goulet was there at the rally on October 2nd in Qc City just like the 3 Statsny brothers! Got huge ovation when his name was announced! That day was unbelievable! Please don't burn your jersey man!

In a perfect world, we would get an expansion team! But I doubt that will happen! I just wish that the Nordiques come back to Qc and the jets come back to Winnipeg! but not at ANY cost.

I think the Trashers, the Coyotes, the Panthers, the Predz could be moved! I wacth the last 2 games in Atl and it was painful to see! 9000 and 6800... ouch

I don't have any bad blood toward fans in Colorado for .wanting" or "stealing" our team! In 1995 Quebec City' mayor back then was all culture and no sports and the provencial goverment didn't want to help the owners to build a new building... wich would've save the Nordiques! WE LET THEM MOVE

Now things have changed!

I also wish that we would translate everything we do so that the rest of North america would have a better understanding of wath we're gunnin for... but... out here it's can complicated... sadly... the language is a touchy subject! Take me for exemple, like many of my peers I had to learn mostly by myself ( by watching TV shows, sports...) because our schools only teach the strict minimum! It is sad I know! But someday we'll get there! Until then...

Here's a quick transalion for the video I posted

The voice you hear at the beginning is the voice of Marcel aubut, one of the ex-owners. It's an old tape of him announcing on May 25th 1995 that the owners have finally decided to accept the offer from a washington group to move the team to Denver Colorado.

0:27 " They're are coming back"

3:47 " 75 000 x Thank you " to Mario Roy, simple citizen of Qc who organized all this

Revesportif.com are the organizers and it's not their first organized trip! NFL-NHL-NBA
They been doing this for a long time and are professionnals. Prior to payin, we had to sign a paper with some important rules on it!

Just to give you a taste.. #3 During the game, everybody has to be dressed in blue. For the "operation visibility" to be credible and positive, everybody has to cheer for the Islanders and has to conduct theirselves with class and respect"

And this my friends is the message that we hear on the radio each time this trip is mentionned! we'll be loud at times during the commercial breaks probably signing things like "lets go Nordiques clap clap clap-clap-clap"! Nothin' more!

Will there be some stupid jerks with us... probably... maybe 2-3 or 4! But the warning from the organizers was clear... you get in trouble and we leave without you!

We'll be A LOT more annoying 3-4 years from now, when we'll come back and visit to cheer for our Nordiques vs your Isles in your building ( a new one hopefully )!

As for sports pubs in the area, it's really rather slim pickens. That area is mostly suburban in my opinion (not like NYC) and I doubt anyone could accomodate your crowd. I'd recommend having a giant tailgate party in the lot near your buses, just check with the authorities on rules for open fires, etc.

Good luck with your endeavor and I hope the demonstration goes peacefully!

Honestly, I coulnd't care less if you guys don't believe me! At the end of the day, we're hoping that the Nordiques Nation gets some TV time and that people around the ligue talks about us more and more! All that while having a fun weekend in NY!!! It's all in good fun and thats that!

First off, tickets for a hockey game in canada are between 75$-200$... and even if we'd want to buy some...
It's impossible to get tickets in Toronto or any of the Canadians cities for that matter cause it's sold out every night... just like it was in Quebec City back in tha days!

Believe me (or don't and frankly I don't care ) we'd rather go to Buffalo, Detroit or the MSG in NY to watch a game but Group tickets are impossible to get for more than 30 person and it would cost to much $$$!

Too bad for you guys but your building is the nearest and cheapest, where it's quite easy to buy group tickets! Simple as that! We were gunnin' for 400 tickets at ice level... and we finally bought close to 1200 !!!

You only have yourselves to blame for that!

That's 1150 sold out in less than 2 days!!! 200$ each ... impressive hein!?!
But substract the two days of "free time" in Time square and there's maybe half or even more that don't go!

We wouldn't be having this conversation if you guys were filling the building each game and be more than 12 hours away from us!

J'ai hâte d'être à NY le 11 décembre!!!

JP

hey, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt..and I can't argue with what you said about the attendance..your right about that..but see where we are coming from...a fanbase tired of idiots running an organization down to the ground..wanting them to actually start spending on the team with players etc..and quite honestly, ticket prices have gone up and people simply can't afford..

sort of like a protest from the fanbase..

I'm a bit leery of this...simply because of tired of seeing habs and rags fans out number us in our own building...I mean everyone alls talks about how the islanders have a great fanbase, with loads of fans..but they don't come out and support..

eh, I don't know...its very complicated...one has to hope, that when the team starts winning consistent and getting to the playoffs consistent, it will be a hard to get any tickets..

so for now, hope you enjoy your time in new york..hope the ladies get alot of shopping done..hope you enjoy the game...hope you get noticed and this works for you, cause I do wish the nords come back too..just as long as its not the islanders...

enjoyed the video...I'll even share it on my facebook page...(hope I don't regret that..)

and last...WELCOME TO LONG ISLAND...friend.

Amen to that! and thanks, I can't wait to be in NY/long Island. I've never been there!

Just to add some...It wasn't pretty in Chicago during late 90's. Same in Pittsburgh before the Crosby era! Both struggling franchise turned it around... and now they're sold out every nigth!
Why wouldn't the Isles do the same in a near future! And I hope you get a new building. I thinks its a necessity for the organisation.

I couldn't say the same to a Coyotes fan or a Trashers fan though.

Bettman will probaly never allow us to get a franchise back in quebec city anyways. He says that the NHL will be there once we get a new Arena built. "To undo some mistakes we (NHL) made"! Like ATL, Nashville and Phoenix I presume. But I don't trust the guy. Don't worry, the Islanders will never move to Quebec. And as a NHL fan I don't want them to! Period.

See ya

Put the Cup Back in Our Lobby Where It Belongs

Note to Islanders fans too young to remember: In a Habs-Isles game, the Nordiques fans historically have been totally on our side. Really. They hate the Habs tons more than we do (and I know lots of us vividly remember the bitter Isles-Habs playoff of 1993).

The Nordiques Nation has every business attending this game if they bought tickets. If we don't like it, we should have bought those seats first.

I personally hate hearing the Coliseum crowd turn against the Isles, whether it's the Rangers or anyone else in town, but hey's it's a free country. Or pair of countries. So I will reserve judgment about the intentions behind this whole thing until the first goal goes in, and then I will listen carefully.

Rifle, I agree it's probably not entirely coincidental that they're showing up at one of our games. But they could have made the point just as well in several other rinks, and if they actually cheer for the Isles, that will show they don't mean real harm. After all, they'd attract more attention back home audibly rooting against the Isles when our arena's quiet. So I think Danny B's right: No foul by them yet.

As a fan who's followed the Islanders into many road arenas, from Miami to Edmonton and back, I don't like the message sent at the top of this thread that it's okay to rough up fans who don't root for the home team. We are not Rangers fans, we are ISLANDERS fans and should act with the dignity our franchise and its history demands. I really, really don't want to read stories across Canada that our younger fans decided to rough up our guests.

Last note to Isles fans too young to remember: We swept the Nords out of the conference finals in '82, and that was basically the closest they ever got to the Cup in their entire history (they also fell to the Flyers in a later season). Never thought we'd have to break out a "1982" chant, but we can keep it in reserve...

Last words here are for Frenchie, who hopefully will pardon my lousy French.

Dr. I promise you that we are not there to fight and will not start any physical fights at all. All I am saying is that we are prepared to defend ourselves if our guests get into that sort of thing. We are going to be loud and rowdy, but we will not be violent at all, you have my word.

I wouldn't be surprised. Habs fans are NOT my favorite people on the planet.

But I can't talk either since we had some classless Islander fans booing the Canadian anthem during our heated maple laffs rivalry a few years ago, as well as burning canadian flags in the parking lot. Now THAT was a disgraceful embarrassment.

And no reading magazines. He has eyes in back of his head. :rotflmao:
"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS

"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann
