In yesterdays issue of Newsday, he wrote that the Rangers "will almost certainly buy out" Wojtek Wolski. If he becomes an UFA he is someone I really think the Islanders should look into. He's 6'3" with good speed and is only 25 years old. He's also a very good play making winger who scored 65 points in 2009-2010 before having a weak season last year. I'd love to see him on the top line with JT and MM, what do you guys think?

No. No. No. No... and no. The guy is an enigma. If the guy couldn't help the Rangers score goals, he definitely won't help us. We have more front line offensive talent than they have. We need players who are going to come in and set an example and give 100% every shift. A guy like Brooks Laich who was very impressive in that Ranger series. Wolski would have been a guy I'd have said yes to if it were 2009. We don't need players like him anymore. We need sure things.

Completely agree Snowy!!!

I'd rather see one of our young guys get the icteime.
Our needs (if at all possible to be met) are on defense and leadership up front.

The goalie scenario is a whole other mess.

Exactly. Experiment time is over. Its time to go out there and prove ourselves. Go get your second chance in Edmonton.

HAHAHAHAHAHA you guys crack me up...

Let me preface this by saying all season I've felt that Brooks Laich should be our number 1 target in the offseason...However, I have no reason to believe that he or any of the other top free agents want to become an Islander. A freshly bought out Wojtek Wolski is much more the caliber of scrap heap reclamation projects that the Islanders typically acquire. But I guess you guys would rather have PA Parenteau riding shotgun to JT again...

I don't like the guy, but the fact is he put up 20 goals. You don't know what you're going to get with Wolski. Experiment time is over.

Keep this guy far far away from this team. He's a talented enigma......and we've had plenty of those players over the years.

He's 25 and will soon be on his 4th NHL team..........that tells you something right there.

I actually would rather have Parenteau riding shotgun. And that's not to say that Parenteau's ceiling is higher than Wolski's. Let's face it, it isn't. But Parenteau has good chemistry with Tavares, and Parenteau is also holding a spot warm for some other player in the future. More importantly, he's already signed for next season. In past seasons with the Isles they'd sign a player like Wolski and have a lot of icetime for him, especially PP time. With Nino coming in next season and the possibility of a UFA or trade (not likely, but possible), there's just no fit for him. You've mentioned Laich is your #1 (and for good reason) but why? For me, it's because he seems to lead by example, he does the little things, does some dirty work. And he can also score some goals. Wolski isn't that type of player at all. I wasn't knocking your thought that Wolski can be a good offensive player in this league because he has been. He's just not a good fit for our team going into 2011-12, IMO.

No way I would even consider bringing him here. The last thing we need is another "enigma" on this team. Think back, haven't we had enouugh of these type of players already?

Look elswhere, please.

We have a 23 year old on his third team already - better get rid of him before he goes bad. No wait, we should keep him til he's 38 or so.... Can we negotiate for first right of refusal on rights to his next of Gremlin?

Let's see what the Panthers do this offeseason - giving up on Grabner and Frolik in the same year....

Wolski may be too enigmatic to invest big $ in

Plus he's an ex Ranger

Too bad this ex Ranger doesn't play hockey (and is ancient but could still probably kick my a**)

At least we still have one "super" fan in that picture (?)

What has search overload done to us?

Did you say overlord?

Great word for some free association!

Darth Vader (overlord) >
..Garth Snow (rhymes with darth, also an overlord) >
...Rebuilding (favorite pastime of our overlord) >
....Renewal (feeling we get from rebuilding) >
.....Spring (season for renewal)
......Winter Spring Summer and Fall (lyric by Taylor, James) >
.......James (disciple) >
........John (another disciple) >
.........Tavares (another John) >
..........NVMC (needs many more johns - and Johns)

Oops, did you say overLOAD? Nevermind.

Not bad enough that I just wasted three minutes on this, but now I realize I could have jumped from Winter Spring Summer and Fall (lyric by JT)
directly to JT the hockey player. I guess I was feeling all Easter-y.
