Matt Donovan signed to entry level deal out of Denver. I didn't expect him to leave early.

Yeah there were rumors a couple of weeks ago that he was gonna turn pro. Selfishly as a fan I'm glad he did. But time will tell if it was the right move for him. Either way, with Ness, Donovan, de Haan, and possibly Kessel being slated for Bridgeport next season, as well as Poulin and Mikko in the nets, I will definitely make the trek up to see a game or two next season. And there could be a few new forwards in that mix too.

You may not have to go that far to see Donovan. Apparently, they feel he may be close enough to joining the NHL this coming training camp.

Ugh. I read that today on twitter. If Donovan CAN play in the NHL that's great. But there shouldn't be room for him because we should be adding D in the summer. This organization is so confusing.

I doubt we add any D this summer.........because we have a glut of D-men signed and sealed for next year. So unless they're gonna make a few trades this summer, I don't see any D being added........unless its for depth.

New Botta Isles prospect list. The list was expected. The last two paragraphs are the best part:

Quote:

Perhaps best of all for the Country, the Islanders’ fifth overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft in June is not on this list. You could probably slot him right now in the No. 2 spot and move everyone else back down a notch. With the new 18-year-old, the Islanders’ prospect depth chart will rank safely among the top-third in the 30-team NHL.

Now it’s on the Islanders organization to develop its talented youngsters and surround them with the right teammates. Over the last four seasons, the Islanders have not come close to making the playoffs. A consistent contender is not built on draft picks and prayers.

Amen.

I wouldn't at all mind seeing the likes of Wisart, deHaan, Donovan, Kessel & Ness all getting time at the Bridge.

Look at Hamonic. They did the very right thing with him. Let him start the season at the Bridge and if he play merits it, he gets a call up. And if his play merits it, he gets to play and stay with more PT and more responsibility. It was the same thing with AMac.

Why can't we do that with all our prospects?
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

Wishart's already got two full AHL seasons under his belt with a cap hit of $1.1M and an expiring contract. Not sure how you decide what to do with him if he's at the Bridge for half a season.
