Pretty much everything I've been criticized for saying all along.
Glad and SAD to hear it from huge NHL voice like Gord.
Glad to hear someone NOT sugarcoat things. Sad, because the truth hurts.

Finally unfiltered REAL media honesty.

Thank you Gord for your candid remarks.

"If I'm a fan of the Islanders, I wish I could fire the owner, but you can't. So I think the owner's a huge problem there, and to be honest, if the Islanders look to replace Garth Snow at some point I don't know if there's a lot of people in hockey of substance who would go to work for that owner."

"It's viewed outside at the ownership level as being a CIRCUS."

Botta sounds like he would like Gord to shut up...but he also sounds like he's been schooled at the same time.

Great clip, Steve. I ran the teleprompter on that one it sounds like. I'mania has rules about listening to "they that speak" now, I assume, like it were some lame M.Knight Shananaa movie.
"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS

"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann

WOW this guy absolutely nailed it. We should see how these players perform next year and prove to us whether Gord is right or wrong.

Will these guys be able to perform under pressure, or will we have another season marred by the traditional 20-30 game losing streak.

He's right about Lundqvist and the GODAMN RAG$ :ragssuck:

this guy was pissing me off for all the right reasons.

love the spirit these guys fight through on the ice and i'm really looking forward to next season. I just hate the freak show up in the owners palace.

oh well, just 4 more seasons before they move up to Quebec. Going to enjoy it until the end.

It is worth noting that he does praise Garth slightly after that awkward moment
when Botta tried to interject from the candor.
He praised Snow for Moulson, Grabner and Montoya deal.

But this is why I always said, it would be GREAT if some of our alumni would put their ego's and accomplishments aside and talk freely about this owner to the press and NOT on the golf course.

Maybe then the rest of the fanbase would listen. Unfortunately, it wouldn't matter anyway.

I do disagree with Miller about our prospects but listening again, I think he might be referring to getting quality with later picks and developing them the right way by surrounding them with talent (Staal, Girardi, Callahan and Dubinsky).

I don't know. Going forward it would be great to see things change. There is always hope.
But I'm not sold on it. They've been selling hope, that's all they have. Time to change.

Balls in their court. Interesting summer ahead.

What good will it do for folks with NYI history / inside knowledge to speak out candidly in PUBLIC before there's a change in ownership? It would only serve to alienate them from ownership and foster a "you're either with us, or you're against us" attitude.

Hmm, Candor > Candy > Easter > Renewal... -- wait, I used up all my free associating credits in the damn Wojtek Wolski thread....

They would never do that.
That's the point.

When asked they stretch to praise Wang and each time they do I lose a little more respect for them.

Sometimes I feel as if the more the franchise struggles, the more they're proud of their accomplishments. Unlike us rabid fans who want success more than anything, I don't seem to see enough of that from them.

Would be nice to hear Gillies say, "Charles Wang has had this franchise for over 10 years and to his credit he's done everything to keep them here, but I must say, it would be nice to see them surround some of these young kids with more talent/leadership."
Simple as that. Will never happen.

So the koolaid continues. We still have fans making excuses for Wang and thinking things aren't so bad. Maybe they need the alumni to help them open their eyes since fellow fans and NON HAND PICKED KOOLAID MEDIA can't.

Hmm Ownership, Management and DP hindering the team and creating a bad perception of the team....sounds just about right, and again confirmed by an insider...."Garth will show 'em this summer, dont worry", "This is the summer we land real free agents!", Kool Aid anyone?

I'm going to be 100% objective about this interview.

1. You can tell Gord Miller doesn't watch the Islanders much or follow them closely at all. Seems like he gets all of his Isles info from the Toronto media.

2. He's still right about mostly everything he said. Only thing I'd disagree with are the prospects.

lundquist is a choke artist in goal... when the pressure is on he folds like a deck of cards... see the series vs buffalo a couple yrs back, or this series vs the caps... great till the playoffs...

I've been saying that for years. When the pressure's on he shrivles up. Don't forget how the league's "best shootout goalie of all time" lost the biggest shootout of his career to put the Rangers in the playoffs last year  1-5 career playoff OT record. Can't make it up.

The part where he said the islanders are the 5th worst team in their division by far really hit home with me.

wow talk about being negative about he Islanders.

I love the point about Lundquist that he's a cornerstone goalie but I'm looking at the teams that made it past the first round-the only elite goalie is Luogno and Henrik is not even playing at all buuhoo and then Miller claiming that hey the Isles are soo bad look at their goalie situation. ok the contract they gave Risk was stupid but he islanders have addressed the issue.

the second point that it's easy to win when your out of it as Miller says ignores how the team had performed from late December to the end of the season, Miller ignored the New Years Eve game in Detroit that saw an Islander team battle back a few times and win the game-a turning point for the team. this team battled back and stuck up for themselves and more important found points.

to cap it off Miller says the Islander blue line has to improve (no sh!t) and that the team needs puck moving defensemen and Chris Botta points out the Isles have that in Streit who was out for the season. once again Miller is just being negative

Gord Miller is a blow hard
