Article

An article giving some thought to each team's needs. This guy feels the Isles could use John Madden for his leadership and experience. Makes sense, but one guy isn't going to cut it. I'm hoping for some Defensive upgrades on top of adding experience and skill on offense.

Quote:

John Madden would be the ideal man for the job on Long Island because he's a leader, does all the little things, knows how to handle pressure situations and, is no stranger to the task. Even better, he's hoisted the Stanley Cup multiple times in his career, so he knows a thing or two about winning.

I agree with you.

Could have used him and his leadership last year.
Not now...we need someone a little younger and more productive.

what does John Madden think about this?

Why don't you axe him yourself?
Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

next season is going to be a whole lot different. Madden will hardly be any help.

"Plus: Any fan can bring a hand-made sign for Tavares. But for a family - not named Sim - to be in the Coliseum today with a “We (Heart) Sim” poster, that’s just priceless."

Yes, I was that guy.

Bring back...PRIDE OF THE ISLAND
give me one good reason why its two years too late to go after john madden? and don't tell me its age, don't tell me its lack of production, and don't tell me its because he's too slow..

go ahead give me one good reason...because I see it as a good thing...atleast for one year, a former stanley cup champion, heart and gritty veteran..to play with our young guys..

some of us beg for veterans to help the young guys then when one comes along, we b*tch that he has not good enough. Okay, yes, he is older now, but this is the islanders..beggers can't be choosy..we have to take what is given to us, for the time being..

I doubt the man comes here anyway, but for one year, it wouldn't kill me..who knows maybe he'll take franz spot, or paranteaus spot, I would think that would make most fans happy...

yes, franz and paranteau can go to another team like the bolts be exciting there with real talent amongst them and compete for a cup, ala thompson, bergenheim, mab, brewer, and roloson..

okay, I'm ready for the bashing of me now...bash away.

1 good reason:

cannot LEAD BY EXAMPLE on 4th line and have an impact.

at this stage of this rebuild, no matter how we feel about it. we would be better served with a younger, more productive player who can play on top 2 lines and pushing one of them down in depth chart.

That is...if the goal is to make the playoffs. Tough to be the captain of a team on 4th line, heck even 3rd. We have no one in our top 6 forwards who is ready for that responsibility and most of all risk.
Many forget how some inexperienced players try to do too much when they get the C.
Cannot risk that just yet.

;) :dontknow:

Happy Mothers day to all the moms!
