Wish we could have played worse and been the 2nd worst team. I would love to have Adam Larrson. |

i heard some were the Islanders have some type of test that they give to the draft prospects and it's a major factor in who gets picked. Nino scored pretty high last year. to finish my point on the pair of 2's in this years draft the Isles have allot of flexibility as far as either moving up or down. the Islanders should do the Dougie this year and draft Hamilton a d-man or this is Chara like dude: Jamieson Oleksiak from Northestern you have to figure the Oilers take Larrson/Hopkins goes to Avs/Florida?? does Landerskog last past #3?? if the isles trade the pick they we know who they wanted was gone and could be a big drop off after these first 3 players IF this draft is pretty good in the late 1st to second nothing wrong with trading down |

We can dream and dream and dream again... ~~~Zach Parise~~~offer sheet~~~ holy sheet!!!! Nope... In the end, whatever happens, draft wise, selection, trade up, trade down, nyi.com media hype etc etc... at the end of the day...Rick DiPietro will still get 30+ starts next year between his "maintenance days", "swelling" rests and made up injuries to cover for knee issues. Another draft lottery thread will be started next year as long as he's an Islander and is given a chance to kill momentum and any semblance of progress. At what point do his teammates begin to resent him? |

I know this is off topic but after last nights performance I think DiPietro is done-I bet he retires. He just appeared dejected with every soft goal he gave up, at a certain point he has to say that's it I can't do this any more. |

99% of people would never walk away from that contract and the security it provides. Plus, say what you want about is dimished skills, it is a fact works very hard and cares alot so I see no way he retires this summer. |

I saw that too that he was dejected after each goal, all that practice will pay off for the big screen deal... |

I would do the offer sheet in a NY minute. Add Parise to what we already have offensively and we have one of the best offensive teams in the league IMO. Then add a couple of big responsible D men and we would be a force IMO. |

I would love it but theres no way were landing Parise... And this is awesome..If Hamonic doesnt score w 30 somethin seconds left the other night against the pens the isles are 3rd worst and prob couldve drafted one of the top 3 more nhl ready players..So glad he scored that important goal

Instead of signing Parise to an offer sheet, I'd rather try and just trade for Rick Nash. In order for the Devils to decide not to match, the contract would have to be so big that it would trigger the 4 first round picks value. There is no way I would do that. You could trade for Nash for much less than that. |

Why the f#@k would Columbus trade the face of their franchise who has a long term deal? If they trade Nash, they may as well fold. |

His injuries would have to be deemed by an NHL doctor that prohibits DP from playing in the NHL again. That time came and went with his surgeries, and since he did return to action, he's not injured or damaged enough to not return, and you can't get paid from insurance because you decided to return and suck. |

Moose, there were already rumors that Columbus was shopping him at the deadline. Believe me, I don't make this stuff up. He makes a lot of money and the team has never won a playoff game in their history. Maybe they want to start over, I don't know. |

so who do we trade to get nash? I'm thinking in order to get him, bailey or perhaps okposo comes into picture..Not sure I'd want to get rid of either one right now..and I don't think comeau alone gets its done..maybe we trade our draft position for him..does that get it done? and are ready as a team to make a deal like that? does rick nash put us over into the next step of the rebuild? Is it worth the risk? |

I think you can pay up to about 7.5 million for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks. You think the Devils can match that? |

I'd do it. In a heartbeat. I'd sh*t myself if we got Nash. I love KO, but Rick Nash had my heart first.

It would probably take a Bailey/K.O./Nino/ and swap picks in the 1st round to begin the discussion.

Depends how badly they want to move him. If they're just sniffing around to see if some team will give up the farm for him, then yeah probably. If they really want to start from scratch, they'd take the best possible offer most likely starting with the highest first round draft pick they could find. I don't think Edmonton is ready to make a deal like that and Florida 100% isn't. Colorado or Ottawa might be. It starts with the #1 pick, and then probably at least one or two NHL ready players and a prospect. I would NOT include Nino. I would also not include Okposo, Hamonic, or MacDonald. I may be willing to include de Haan, Donovan, Petrov, Kabonov, or basically anybody else. This is all hypothetical of course. I wouldn't give up the farm for him, but all of these prospects and a few current players on this team won't be here in 5 years anyway. Have to give to get. |

No way it would be a swap of first round picks. I was thinking something like Bailey and our 1st round pick, but honestly that might not even be enough. We would need to give up probably 1st rounder this year 1st rounder next year + a prospect, Nash is under contract for another 5 years at a lot of money. But with our record of signing free agents, what better way to force a guy here than a trade. Like snowy said, it all comes down whether Columbus is just kicking the tires or whether they have serious intentions to trade Nash. BUT, I would would support overpaying for him (overpaying more in terms of draft picks then our core young players). |
