Well that couldn't have worked out any worse. The Devils get pulled and move up 5, and of course land right in front of us and we are the first team to move down. everyone in positions 4-8 move down. I didn't see it but from the results on NHL.com it's the only conclusion I can come to .
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

WERENT THE DEVILS SUPPOSED TO LOSE THEIR #1 PICK BECAUSE OF THE KOVY DEBACLE ?

Only if their name were the Islanders.

ANSWERED MY OWN QUESTION

With Kovalchuk now signed to a 15-year, $100 million contract to play in New Jersey, the NHL has elected to go forward with disciplining the Devils for their prior actions, slapping the team with a $3 million fine and a loss of a first round draft choice and a third round draft choice, respectively.

The Devils will determine when they will give up the future first round draft pick after the conclusion of the 2011, 2012, 2013, or 2014 Stanley Cup Finals.

If this were the Isles, like the Capuano fine, the Isles would be asked to switch picks with the Pens and Gillies would get a 15 game suspension as a result. :letssee:

who cares about the Devils this team can't even sell out a Stanley Cup final game

any way there are 3 players in this draft and then a drop off. @ #5 the Islanders could look to add a blueliner we all crave and I want Dougie Hamilton. who knows maybe the Islanders deal the pick slide back in the 1st round and get a legit player to rush forward the rebuild.

This is the Islanders you're talking about...we wouldn't want to hurry the rebuild process. ;)

There's a drop off, but it's not significant. None of the top three picks are being touted as generational players. Let me just say that this is NOT a big deal. Not at all. If you look at the top 3 offensive rookies from this season, Skinner was a 7th overall pick, Couture was a 9th overall, and Grabner was 14th overall. I think the Devils are a lock to take Couturier, he's been compared to Jason Arnott and it just so happens Jason Arnott has played a major role in Devils history. Perfect fit for them.

This will leave us with Strome, Huberdeau, Hamilton, or Murphy basically. Of those four, I like Strome and Murphy the best. One thing is for sure, the Isles won't make their choice until after the combine. So, rough night, but we didn't drop down multiple spots. Only one.

However, if you would like to look to the original reason I started this thread, just remember this: Travis Hamonic's goal vs. Pittsburgh to tie the game cost us two spots in the draft.

Just don't tell him that if you ever run into him. We don't want the kid to develop a complex over scoring. ;)

That goal could potentially give Hamonic his career long defense partner in Ryan Murphy. Definitely possible. You have the dynamic Murphy to go with the stay at home, rough Hamonic. Too good to think about.

I think the idea of a draft lottery is dumb anyway. Let the worst team pick 1st and so on.

But if your going to have one then do it in front of everyone. Put the teams logo on ping pong balls and just draw it right there on camera.

But im not crying conspiracy just frustrated that the devils are picking over us.
