Another note why are all the Oiler fans celebrating like they won the Cup  :dontknow: That's being happy for getting a participation trophy

When you are 30th what else do you have to cheer for? :dontknow:

MMMMMMMMMMMM

Ya know when Led sees this, this thread is toast!

So I'm watching the lottery and I see 3 GM's, the architect Torrey and representing NYI - Kerry Gwydir. That pretty much says it all. Guees Garth didn't want to fly coach.

:torrey:
John Tavares was 2 years old the last time NYI won a playoff series

who cares about the Devils this team can't even sell out a Stanley Cup final game

any way there are 3 players in this draft and then a drop off. @ #5 the Islanders could look to add a blueliner we all crave and I want Dougie Hamilton. who knows maybe the Islanders deal the pick slide back in the 1st round and get a legit player to rush forward the rebuild.

AT LEAST THEY'VE SEEN THE FINALS
THIS ORGANIZATIONS PLAYOFF PAIRING ALWAYS REQUIRES AN HDTV A RECLINER AND A COOLER FILLED WITH $9.50 BEERS

That was the worst possible scenario for us.
Best for Devils.

Bad things usually happen to poorly run franchises.
Good things usually happen to well run franchises.

Devs owner had a hard on for Kovalchuk and forced Lamourillo to make some moves
but in the end, that team will be back full force. Never matters where they draft.
Unlike us, they have a team of scouts (19 + 2 pro scouts), many of whom are FULL time scouts
unlike our teams BS where many of them are part timers.
Big ass difference.

Oh well. Now we have to endure the endless debates of who should be drafted or what package we can muster up for a high priced player that our owner won't grant permission to pay unless they help us reach cap floor.

It will be all about money again this off season.
First clue was the immediate signing of the coach with no disclosure of terms/length.

And Garth talked about "due diligence" after Gordon firing...

You're not implying that the state of the Isles management had anything to do with the bad luck of the ping pong balls...are you?

No Jackace, not at all.

Oh, the sight of Kerry Gwydir next to Bowtie Bill said a great deal all by itself.

If we wanted to give a perk to a longstanding employee in the hockey ops department, we should have sent Joanne Holewa instead. Perhaps she wouldn't like the limelight, but she certainly would have deserved it.

Damn, we should have sent Wolfie. No way we woulda slipped to #5 with the Wolfman at the table. :D

Embarassing that two Isles alums were there (Bill and the elder Tambellini), but none of them represented us. Every other team sent a current or former GM.

Garth couldn't be there because the organization got rid of all its scouts to cut costs, so he has to do all the scouting. :D

“He was the league’s top scholastic player. The Islanders probably love that about him, so I would guess that he’s high on their list.”

There's your pick.

Hamonic and Hamilton. The Twin Hammers? Double Hammer? Hammer & Hammer, LLC.?

Package Bailey, Gervais and the pick and get a decent winger for JT and Matt.

Rifle's package would be fair for a decent winger. A #5 overall, and decent and potentially, solid young center for a good winger. And Brutal is cheap depth for any other organization's minor league team.

I still am hopeful Bailey will be a solid player in time with development and I dont want him to be moved.

Bailey has minimal value and Gervais has negative value. Is anyone here silly enough to think that we know how terrible Bruno is but NHL scouts don't? Nobody wants him. Nobody would want a guy like Hillen either. Our defense is HORRIBLE. The only defensemen we have that anyone would want is MacDonald, Hamonic, and Streit. Some of our AHL and junior prospects would have value too. Maybe, if we're lucky, we could throw a guy like Eaton in a deal as a throw in. That's a huge maybe.

Not sure what 1 has to do with the other. They play different positions and are from different countries with different expectations. Maybe your correlation has to do with improper development by the Isles, but I fail to see how you can compare 2 different athletes based on early results. But I guess you made up your mind of a 22 year old because you are smarter than the rest of us.

So lets move him now so you can bitch later that the Isles management is still making the same mistakes by not having patience when he flourishes elsewhere.

Snowy- Rifle didn't say a dominant winger, but merely a decent winger. To give up a 22 year old that was chosen #9 overall 3 years ago plus the #5 overall pick is a lot to give up for a decent player. Obviously, adding Brutal to a trade package does nothing but unload dead weight from the Isles, but giving up the 5th pick plus Bailey better get us a player better than good.

What everyone's definition of "good" or "decent" players is up for debate. But I dont discredit that package because Brutal stinks. The other players IMO would balance out a decent player back coming back.

Yeah but Jack, Bruno is only going to be under contract to the Isles if they want him to be. He's an RFA who won't be qualified, IMHO. In fact, I've made that a guarantee in another thread. Time will tell if I have egg on my face. But as far as I'm concerned, he's already gone.

Now, about Bailey. When Travis Zajac came to the NHL as a 22 year old, he put up a 44 point season as a rookie, then regressed in his second year and put up 34 points. His third and fourth years he bounced back and put up two 60+ point seasons. Brandon Dubinsky's rookie year he was also 22 years old. He put up three straight 40+ point seasons and this year he put up a 50+ point season. Josh Bailey's age at the start of next hockey season: 22 years old.

If Bailey turns out to be as good as either Zajac or Dubinsky, would everyone here take that? If your answer to that is yes, I would say that I agree with you. Is it realistic to think that Bailey can be as good as either of those two players? Absolutely. Bailey can do good things on a hockey rink. But he has three things working against him:

1. They kept dicking around with him by shuffling him between center and wing.
2. He is inconsistent.
3. He isn't John Tavares.

I said this about Okposo about a month ago and I will say it again about Bailey. It is not this kid's fault that he was rushed. In many other organizations, this season or next season would have been his rookie year in the NHL. I wouldn't trade Bailey for a decent winger. And Bailey's regression this season should be a concern, but by no means is he ruined. Not yet anyway. But those are the reasons that we shouldn't trade him.

To an outside organization, Bailey has little value. If he had never played an NHL game and played a full season in Bridgeport this year, he probably would have put up 80-90 points and his value would be much higher than it is now. Anyway, Bailey will probably have Nino and either Comeau or PA as his wingers next season, and will benefit from that. I'm fairly confident you'll see at least 40 points out of Bailey next season.
