Why not go with Nino / Tavares / Okposo as our top line. Let them grow together, could be something really good.

That chemistry is something that will come with time. I think at some point all of these guys are going to get a chance to play together, whether it be at even strength or on the power play.

So what is the right move here all things equal? Picking a defenseman who takes longer to develop or a wing that would probably step into a roster spot much faster the way the Isles rush their prospects. A winger could have a faster impact to the team, but stud blue liners are few and far between. It seems that the stud D-man aren't available as much as wingers in free agency.

All things equal I would take Larsson or Murphy over the other available wingers at 5.

On a side note Craig Button of TSN has Larsson falling past the Isles to the 6th spot with the Isles picking Ryan Strome. Anyone know anything about this guy Button? Is he a hack? All prospect lists Larsson in the top 3. I dont see this happening unless he blows it at the combines.

Button doesn't know his ass from his elbow. I wouldn't put any stock in what he has to say.

If Jon Huberdeau jumps into the top 3 picks (which is now a possibility) then anything can happen really. I cannot imagine Larsson passing the Devils at 4 though. If he does, then Adam Larsson is our guy. I highly doubt that happens though, and if that's the case I want Ryan Murphy. Wouldn't be upset if we drafted Strome though.

Button is on Botta's blog saying that the Isles are a better match with Strome than with Courtier.

Personally, I don't know. A big-size center is hard to pass up and it would give JT a #2 center in case Bailey bombs. I think I would take the safe pick and go with Courtier.

Well first off, I just want to say that when I dismissed Button above it was after I read his mock draft online. After listening to him talk with Botta, I've softened my stance on that. I take back what I said and I think its good that he's offering an opinion that is original and not the same crap over and over like some other mocks.

With that said, I liked Ryan Strome before I even heard Button talk about him. I actually like him better than Couturier anyway, but I'm no scout. I'll have more of a stance after the combine and after I see Bob McKenzie's final rankings. I'll tell you this, I want a player that has sky high upside. That player is not Landeskog, so I hope we don't take him. Anyone else I'll be fine with as long as we don't trade down further than 8th.

Landeskog might be more NHL ready than many of them.
We can debate who can be a dynamic scorer/producer.
Also depends on who they play with and chemistry. Landeskog is someone
many Canadian hockey columnists have alot of respect for and that says alot.
Over he years they tend to promote their own home grown Canadian boys and
not so much from a bias stance but more from word of mouth from real experts
as well as watching them locally.

I hope we take the best player available but I have very little trust in this staff after what transpired with Jankowski and Garth taking on more responsibilities.
Last year, they had a very good draft coming away with Nino, Nelson and Kabanov.
The Cody Rosen joke pick can be tossed away.

Alot will change in the next few weeks. There may be teams who's needs change and that can have an affect on the draft too.
Also...don't think that the Devs wouldn't surprise people and look to trade down if a certain player is on their radar. Nothing should surprise us anymore.

I have an open mind to Snow and this draft. We still employ scouts like Morrow and Kallur who I hope have taken on added responsibilitites. As far as Janikowski goes...I have no idea what input Snow considered from him in the past.

Ken Morrow is not a scout who is involved in amateur draft.
He is the director of "pro" scouting.

Jankowski ran the last few drafts and he was run out, most likely over saving some $$$.
