We'll see.  I'm not big on Indian run casinos.  They have no regulations to follow, no authority to check on them.  I will still probably drive past them to go to AC, where there are real gaming casinos and services that treat you like royalty with suites and meals, not quite as easy with the natives.

And I'm headed west, for the great wide open, and the off strip small town gaming. :yea:

i know its off topic but it's a sad day in America when you need casinos to pick up the economy. this is not good i think we all should start paying attention to politicians and VOTING!! and giving a sh!t about our country

but anyway how are the Islanders going to play hockey in a casino? makes no sense :dontknow:

just build the damn thing already :blah: :blah: :blah:

With tentative plans for two tribal casinos in heightened negotiations in Nassau and Suffolk, organized opposition is forming in lockstep.

Officials of both counties are said to have accelerated talks with the Shinnecock Indian Nation in recent weeks. The tribe has said it seeks to work with communities and will not go where it is not wanted.

Webb, if you want to post the entire article for people who may not be able to read it go ahead.

I still think the best option would be for Wang and the Township to sit together and arrive at an acceptable percentage from the original plan. A casino deal won't be as profitable for Wang and the Township gets skipped over in that process.

They need to sit down and realize its in their mutual best interest to work together.

'Politics' is a very sleazy, x-rated, adult word to some people. Try denying them of it.

I agree.

Let's NOT forget Charles Wang had not even provided a plan for FINANCING his stupid lighthouse project
outside of stating he'd finance it as part of his propaganda.

Don't forget attempted visit to China. (Attempt to try and sell them on financing some perhaps).
LH project in original state gets squashed, so does China trip.

Of course the Charlie Brown shnozzes would say I'm crazy to come to this conclusion.

Of course this will be the year they spend OVER the CAP without using buyout contracts and gimps contracts to circumvent reaching it's floor.
THIS is the year the rebuild takes off.

EVERYONE will be healthy. EVERYONE will produce. Who needs a casino folks?
Our owner has been gambling with our insanity since he took over. It won't change.

Wake up.

Yeah, he was going to finance it all himself....wait....needs a partner.

He was teaming up with Reckler....wait....he needs 100% to make enough with a partner.

He was going to pay for all studies and planning....wait.....he omitted key aspects and raised red flags.

He was going to give a portion of what the school systems wanted to expand....wait....they need 10X the amount minimum.

The guy lied to investors. He lied to fans. He's lied about his finances. Well, now he has a lawsuit coming over his lies and might just have to take the Slotmachinnicock deal. If only he gave in back in the day and fought for 65% or 70%.....but he's still a billionaire to many, so the debate will forever go on.

The whole fiasco is being blamed on Murray but if we look at the Mets, Yanks, Nets, NYR and others, we see concrete plans done by professionals and we've seen drama fed, blog run emotion driven, fan inciting drivel from Wang.

No wonder we're talking about an Indian reservation in Uniondale.

So when the Indian Casino breezes through they can thank Chuck. His shadiness and front page hardball will make the Indians casino seem safe. Who's ever heard of a Casino endeavor not have enough funds? But we'll hear how Nassau County promised the deal to Charles and he'll call the Nassau pols indian givers.

I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

All I can say is...
A casino with Wang will not happen.
It will get done eventually in SUFFOLK.

This is all leverage unless Wang himself changes his stance and softens on some issues.

Simple solution to Hofstra's fears about students gambling... raise the minimum gambling age to 22 or even 23 for this casino. Most 4 year undergrads are done when they are 21...

Graduate and masters students will have to be smart enough to stay away on their own :yea:

Who the F is worrying about 21 year old men and women, students or not. There is too FN much interference with people's lives now, we don't need more nosy bodies telling others what's good for them and what's not. What the hell happened to this country.

Stay out of people's lives. They are 21 and responsible for their own actions.

If I'm 21 and I want to smoke, drink, gamble, curse, use drugs, or live a good clean life it's my choice and my choice only, or so I was taught that was your right in the United States of America.

Ok, rant over.

UR absolutely right about that...although my suggestion was just a way to appease Hofstra so they can get a deal done.

Nonetheless, the trend of making people LESS responsible for themselves in this country is very alarming... :puke:

Looks like your boy Botta now says only 25% of the LH was approved. Maybe he checked with Giglia. ;) Either way, makes Kate look even lamer -

CB – Any update of when the ToH board will unveil their scaled down “Lighthouse Project”? Even if the ToH comes back with 33% of Wang’s vision, isn’t it conceivable that the 2 sides could head back to the bargaining table and meet somewhere in the middle? Isn’t there a little more incentive on Kate Murray to make a deal with Wang in the hopes that it could nip the casino issue in the butt sooner rather than later?

OCV: They unveiled it last summer. It was about 25% of the Lighthouse and was rejected…CB

Depends on what you want to debate about.

The entire scale of the project was a 50% reduction.
Want to argue semantics because you hate Murray, then focus on housing.

Zoning move cuts Lighthouse in half
County, developers criticize town plan for Coliseum property

Mike Caputo/Herald
The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum property in Uniondale.

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray announced on Monday that an “alternate zone” created for the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum property is half the density of the original Lighthouse proposal.

Murray’s announcement came during a press conference at Town Hall, where she unveiled the long-awaited zoning blueprint that could make way for a scaled-down version of the Lighthouse.

Murray pointed out to reporters that while the alternate zone seemingly cuts the original proposal in half, the maximum density for the site would be the greatest anywhere in the Town of Hempstead — more concentrated than the neighboring Omni building, the Marriott Hotel and RXR Plaza. The “density proposed in the Mitchel Field mixed-used development district is more dense than has ever been proposed in the Town of Hempstead,” Murray said.

A glaring example of the new zone’s limits is its building height requirement. The tallest structures in the Lighthouse proposal were two 36-story towers that would have included a five-star hotel and luxury residences. In the new alternate zone, the maximum permissible building height is 100 feet, or nine stories — comparable to the Marriott Hotel that stands on the property.

The town’s alternate zone also includes roadway improvements to enhance traffic flow and safety, as well as a renovated Coliseum, additional open space and areas for residential units, retail businesses, restaurants, a hotel, conference space and a cinema.

Yeah let's believe what Murray says because she's not too biased or tunnel visioned.   :

If she's all ya got, it's over. Talk about semantics.

Who hates Murray? Not me! Personally, I hope she continues to screw everything up so NYI end up in Queens. If NYI end up in Queens it's me, her and a goat for 1 wild night!! GO KATE GO!!!! ROCK IT MAMA!!! :D

Who ya gonna put me in touch with, D'amato? I have a turd block in place so the call to him would never go through. :puke:

Again, you're missing the point. Even 50% or 75% is pathetic. Much less 25% which it really is. No wonder nothing gets done on LI with this type of thinking.
