So, with your help I got this 1990 Trooper LS running. Here's the next issue on my tick list: The Oil Pan Drain Plug is stripped. Have any of you chased the threads with the same size or larger tap? Or What's the fix? Any help is greatly appreciated, Lars |

How badly stripped? Won't stay in at all stripped, or just afraid to put much muscle on it stripped? If there's some thread left, you could try a few wraps of teflon tape to get it to hold tight. If that doesn't work, then yeah, you're probably going to need to tap to the next size, whatever that is. If neither of these options are appealing, you should just resign yourself to replacing the pan, which is going to require either pulling the motor or dropping the diff. Pulling the motor is easier with the 2.6, dropping the diff is easier with the V6. |

Ended up running an oversize tap through it. Now using an oversize drain plug. |
