oil leak

After I changed the oil this past weekend I notice that I had developed an oil lea. At first i though that it was spraying out a pinhole in the filter gasket but tried a new filter and still leaked. Then I cleaned it up a little better and watched it, it only leaks when running, and it seems like it is coming from the gasket in between the engine block and the oil filter mount. Not sure if I am calling these by their proper names. Anyway the local napa got me a filter that they said went there, but it is round and this looks like it should be more square, but I haven't taken it off yet. I did tighten the 4 bolts that hold it on and the leak slowed but didn't stop. Does anyone, Johnny, know what this gasket looks like and how I should go about replacing it? Can I simple use a rtv type sealant or should I try to cut something out of some gasket material? Also how big of a mess will this be? Should I drain the oil, probably should but I just changed it and would like to save it if I could. Thanks for any input. Ben

Well I pulled the oil filter mounting bracket and found a squarish gasket, so I had to make one. I got it all back together and it doesn't seem to be leaking. I decided not to drain the oil and I didn't have much oil drip out. While I was working in that area I also pulled off an old idler pulley and bracket that wasn't being used anymore. It was a good day.
