Hey guys So I put a new distributor cap and rotor on my 2.6 and noticed oil on the inside of the distributor. The external 'O' ring is not leaking because I used RTV to seal it when I did the head gasket so I am guessing there is an internal seal that has died. I checked I the Hayes Manual and got a break down diagram but I don't know what needs replacing and/or if there is a common seal that can be ordered and replaced. Any advice before I start pulling things apart would be much appreciated. Cheers |

Look for an o-ring. That seems to be the most frequently replaced part for the symptoms. Don't know exactly where it is, but I'm sure it's easy to find. Johnny, I'm sure, knows and will yell at me for speaking out of school; but I just wanted to see some activity on this forum. So there. To answer your question, I have no clue. But good luck! |

Hey Tim. From all the rumors I've heard, Johnny seems to yell a lot ;). As for 'o' rings, I can see the outer one that seals the distributor into the head but nothing else. Waiting patiently for Johnny to impart knowledge

Guys, I believe there's an internal o-ring that can start leaking and cause oil in the cap. I've never taken one apart, the book says it's not serviceable. |

My distributor was getting oil in the cap pretty bad..I ordered a new Richporter IZ02. The distributor is really nice and well made. It is working great. |

hello, anyone still out there? What happened, did you find the problem? I am having the same issue. Is the distributor from a 2.3 with a carb different than the distributor from a 2.6 itec? Is the distributor from the 2.6 serviceable or should I look for a replacement? Johnny do you have any for sale? Thanks |
