86 eating rear disc's and pads way to fast

this auto has a up-grade axil under a 4 door 86
so this 86 has a 12 bolt with disk brakes not a 10 bolt with drums on the rear that all 86s have stock....

after i had been home for some time i got a set of rear pads and found the drivers rear rotor out of spec (half as thin as the other one) and replaced it, "used one off parts ride" that was just fine.
i even spun the pistons back as they need to be, so that was not the issue best i know....


now ive driven maybe 5,000 tops and ive got steel on steel...
it felt like there was a smigen of drag as it seemed to not coast as well at 5mph on the flat, the rims had a little higher temp then is normal, but not enuf to freak out...
so clearly it was not releasing all the way.


this time im doing the hole works.
pads, rotors, re-man calipers as ive never had good luck with the over-hall kits

i don't want to be busted in AR three times in a row.....so ill spend the $125 and have all new.....

David, the spring that releases the e-brakes have a hard time pulling back cables that are rusted or partially siezed. You set your e-brake and then when you let it go, it doesn't fully release and you end up wearing pads. Pull the cables loose from the caliper and swing them around so that they're on top of the axle pointed up and fill them with you favorite penetrating oil and then ATF, or Motor oil in order to coat the inside and provide lubrication. I made a video of doing a rear brake job and lubing the cables yesterday, I'll try to get it uploaded today. WHile the cables are pulled loose put a screwdriver through the eyelet and have someone sit in the cab an pull on the e-brake and then you pull it back with the screwdriver. Do this back and forth like 2 men sawing a log with an old see-saw. Once the cables move freely your e-brake shouldn't hang anymore.

ive yet to connect the parking cables....

i been using low gear, low range and wood blocks.....lol

how easy is the lubing of the cables?
cuz if not i'll have it serviced but i'm not sure if they do lube cables here....never heard of it, usually they change it with a new one.

also, johnny5ive, how do you repair this stuck pistons? or for maintenance purposes, can these pistons be lube?
