Mounted a set of 235/70/16's on my snowflakes today. Add that to my list of things I've learned to do since buying this machine. Drives like a new truck. I'm pretty sure this is close to the diameter intended to be run on these things. My little 4ZE1 was struggling to push those big old 31's around. 5th gear uphill doing 55 with room to spare on the pedal. Can't wait to see that MPG rise! Edited by zudorf, Oct 6 2013, 04:21 PM.

Right on man, that thing looks great. Let me know about the mileage. |

I'm keeping a close watch on it. I'm loving the "extra power". I came up that mountain in 4th this evening. Is it possible that the change in tire diameter messed with the ECM a little? About 20 or so miles on the new rims and my idle went down to 600. I tweaked her back up to 900 and she's doing fine now. Just wondering. Seemed kind of coincidentally odd. |

Ok. You keep changing the pic on your signature. I have tried to change mine to no avail. Let's see if this worked. |

I have a set of 16" snowflakes I will get on my Trooper when my tires get tired. I have been on the fence about painting them or leaving them. Never really been a fan of shiny things. WHat do you think Tim? cheers -Ian |

I don't like real shiny things myself, Ian. The snowflakes are aluminum, I guess, and unless you "polish" them, will have a matte finish. I've often thought about painting wheels but never pulled the string. One little rock ding and I'd be pissed. Eric did a great job painting his. I've seen them in the flesh and they look fine. I've seen several other threads here and there where the owner painted their snowflakes. I guess it's a matter of preference. I really need to paint the caps and get rid of the Honda emblems. LOL |

Whatever the medium, I was just commenting on putting another coat of something on rims. Powder coating would certainly be the most durable and expensive. I'd probably mess around with it if I had another set. The most these will see is an SOS pad. |
