Mounted a set of 235/70/16's on my snowflakes today. Add that to my list of things I've learned to do since buying this machine. Drives like a new truck. I'm pretty sure this is close to the diameter intended to be run on these things. My little 4ZE1 was struggling to push those big old 31's around. 5th gear uphill doing 55 with room to spare on the pedal. Can't wait to see that MPG rise!

30/9.5/15's were a good compromise between stock and "going big" on tires. I got much better diff clearance and I'm not totally screwed on this 2.3L's power curve on the hills. MPG's about the same, better on the highway than the 225's I was running. Stability vastly improved, as is traction.

235/75/15 is stock size for 88 and up 2.6L troopers, 225/75/15s for 87 troopers and older with the 2.3L

Ah. And I thought you had painted them gray. I failed to go back and read your post on that subject. Sorry.

Tim, Annodize them. Annodized aluminum is the shit. You could make them a color that complements your Trooper.
Yep, and you can do it yourself using sodium bisulfate (get some Aqua-Chem from the hardware store).
