The 120 PSI on 2 cylinders means a valve job is in your future. After looking back over the thread, have you removed the idle screw from the back of the T.B. and made sure the o-ring on it ain't shot? The right o-ring is a bear to find, I just ordered new screws for mine. Other than that, put a carb on it! (There guys, you happy I said that???) You are running out of reasons and getting down to fuel pressure regulator or leaking injectors. That is a batch fire system so diagnosing which injector is a pain in the butt. If you are going to keep running ITEC replace the injectors and fuel pressure regulator.

To test your fuel pressure regulator, put a fuel pressure gauge on it, crank it up and then pull the vacuum to the regulator. If your pump is healthy and fuel delivery is not restricted in any way, you should see an increase in pressure about 6-8 PSI. If you smell gas in the vacuum hose, it is shot.

Fixed!

I'll tell the story when someone guesses what it was. It wasn't the ECT.....this time; but I'm keeping that bitch in my glove box for when I take the intake off and sell it to some poor sap who actually likes the ITEC. They get a free ECT with it.

Anyway. Let the guessing begin. It hasn't even been mentioned in this thread.

Oops. Ernie mentioned it. I must have missed it.

I went back and read Ernie's post thoroughly. He nailed it actually. In fact, I'm going to check out a few other things he mentioned just to make sure I'm not going to get ambushed again.

Yeah. I was digging around in the back, looking for a particular screw or something for the job; and I ran across a coffee can that had some miscellaneous parts in it. I saw the fuel pressure regulator that I had taken off an 88 I bought and scavenged. I had tried it last time I was having issues. That one turned out to be the small hose on top of the fuel pump having a gigantic hole. I've quietly thought this whole time that it was fuel related. The symptoms were just not the same as my past problems related to fuel. I decided I would replace the FPR and then check the fuel pump if it didn't work. I pulled the vacuum tube on top of the suspect regulator and got a handful of gas. Being the astute individual that I am, I called my son to make sure that wasn't normal. Just as I was going to ask him to pull his, he sagely suggested that I pull the one on the transplanted regulator. Seems no. There shouldn't be gas in that tube, just as I suspected.

So, once again, the Trooper I bought from my buddy Mike out there in Check, Virginia saved my ass. I remember getting a grill, MAF sensor, banjo bolt, and other odds and ends that surely justified the purchase price. Needing the money, I stripped it as best as I could and hauled it to the crusher. I made $45.00 more than I paid for it. So, not only do my son and I NOT have 88 Trooper lawn art; but we have 25 year old machines that are still running strong.

Still broke. But, Hey, our Troopers run, Jack!

Moral of the story: if it breaks on Tims's rig, it's the most obscure shit ever.... I can't help but point out that this had nothing to do with the ITEC. It's my personal-half-asses-goal to master the ITEC. My reasoning is this: Johnny has mastered the carb setup and our only alternative for the ITEC is Jerry. I'd like to change that. I figure that if I master the ITEC, I've made myself indisposible.

Sorry, I went on a tangent.

Anyhow, for future reference, when Tim's (a.k.a. dad) shit breaks, it's most likely some off-the-wall complication. We played hell with his rig when the MAF sensor took a shit.

Good work out guys.... really tested our knowledge.

It's probably worth mentioning that I asked about this suspicious staining occurring around the FPR.....
