I'm beginning to really appreciate my mechanical fuel pump/ carb set up after reading of yet another trooper down due to fuel delivery problems. Tim, all I can suggest is a road test with new plugs and pulling them to see what they look like , now that your immediate problem's fixed. |

Ok I just read this from start to finish; and I still dont know what an ITEC is. Even tho it sounds like I dont want one, or have one, what's an ITEC? Out of curiosity; would you guys all mind telling me what kind of gas milage your getting, and what your fuel system is. I would like to have a comparison. I dont know what my real gas milage is yet; this is only my 3rd tank of gas; but this time I wrote down the starting milage so I can get a real figure. I'm not going to post my "guestimate", because after looking at the milages in this thread my "guestimate" must be way off; I really dont know why its off so much; I used the SWAG SYSTEM to check it so far. Ken, the ITEC of which we so fondly speak, is the fuel injected nightmare that you were lucky enough to avoid by choosing an 86 model. In theory, it's not bad. There are just so many variables involved when you experience any kind of trouble. The electronics cn cause pesky intermittent problems that are hard to diagnose. In my opinion, more technology getting in the way. As I've said before, I would've been happy to stop technology when they put memory on a calculator. I've been getting around 17 MPG. We'll see now that I've replaced a bunch of stuff. |
