So my jackaroo(Aussie trooper for the uninitiated) became an ambulance the other weekend. My beautiful wife complained of stomach pain on Sunday morning which quickly from bad to severe. One look at her face and I sternly told her we were going to the hospital. I half carried her to the car, loaded her in and started the 20min trip to the hospital. She continued her rapid deterioration on the trip and half way there I looked over and truly looked over at my wife and truly thought she was dead in the car beside me. I yelled at her until she came round and thank God she opened her eyes and told me stop annoying her! (I love this woman) . The trip to the hospital was quick and I managed to do it without breaking too many laws...though I doubt given the circumstances, no police officer would have booked me. We arrived at the emergency department and within 5 mins she was on a bed with 5ppl treating her before she was rushed into emergency surgery. I later found out she had an ectopic pregnancy with had ruptured causing massive internal bleeding. According to the surgeon she lost 1/2 a gallon on blood and that if we had been 20mins later to the hospital she wouldn't have made it. She is now recovering back at home feeling sore and sorry for herself but well on the mend. Not really sure why I am tell you all this, I guess I just needed to write it down or something to process it all. Maybe I'm just grateful my Jackaroo ran like a top and got us to the hospital in time. |

Really glad it all worked out for you and that your wife is healing up. This would make an awesome commercial for Isuzu. |

Wow! Glad she made it Andrew...that was a close call! My ex was an ICU nurse and when we were married and living in Florida, she was just about to recertify for he CPR when my youngest daughter who was a little over 1 yr old at the time decided to somehow open a sliding glass door and take a dip in the pool. My ex was napping and I was away at work, my oldest daughter and step daughter in school. Well I get a phone call at work from my step daughter telling me Sarita had drowned in the pool and that she had been revived by my ex and they were both down in Tampa at the hospital, about an hour's drive away. I had this old beater Mazda RX3 wagon ( I was a rotary engine fanatic , she had an RX2 sedan as well) , and set off down the highway filled with rush hour traffic at 90+ mph Hazzard going flashing my lights and standing on the horn as I screamed past everyone on the shoulder of the road....and folks talk about "the pucker factor" when racing, I was scared shitless but not because of the insane way I was driving.....and only to be pulled over by a state trooper, who though I was insane for driving like a "Mad Max" forcing folks to make way. When I told him what up, and that all I knew of my daughter's condition was that she was alive,,,he didn't book me Andrew, he bloody well escorted me at 90+ mph all the way to the hospital!!! When I got there, my youngest was sitting up in bed like nothing had happened...with a stuffed animal some nurse had given her. Only about 5% chance of that...she was unconcios whem my ex did CPR on her, but fortunately the water was really cold being Winter time...in the 40 degree range, and the little flap in her throat that everyone has that closes when one drinks water ( so it doesn't go down your wind pipe) closed off and she didn't get any or very little water into her lungs. No nurological damage at all, and after an overnight of observation and some tests she was released to come home. For some reason my ex woke up instinctively just in time to save her. Needless to say she passed her CPR recertification without having to take the test when her supervisor found out what had happened. Give your lady my best wishes for her speedy recovery, and pat your Jackaroo on its hood for me, and tell it "Job well done!", and the same to you! EJ |
