route..........................................................

trying to plan this out some.
if i run the little car back east and get a light trailer about the size of a 4X8 from harbor-freight maybe even the 4X4' size would work?
id consider buying a used one, but it would need to still have good wheel bearings....as 3,000 miles is a long-long-ways
the JDM engine trans is about 700lbs + 400lb trailer would keep me legal under OR law, as any loaded trailer under 1,800lbs is fully exempt from plates/tags, though lights are still required....

now the point to the map is gas, more to the point gas with no ethanol.......
im looking for any station along the route thats with-in 40 miles or less of that line that sells any E0 gas thats road grade, not the $8.00+ a gal 110 race stuff lol
for the return if i refuel at about the 1/3 marks of the route i only need to pack about 40 gal...15 of that goes in the tank thus that leaves the need for 5 - 5 gal cans to make the distance on the return getting a assumed 25 mpg average even though i figure it to be closer to 30 mpg.

for the drive there ill likly pull north of 40 mpg, my record so far playing the mpg game with a 20 tale wind, is just under 50mpg
i know first hand this little ford focus reacts strongly to 10% ethanol gas and i loose just about 4 mpg
making 0.40cents a gal my brake even point...

the only one with a 2" ball is the big 4x8 with 12" rims its 260lbs, all the others are that odd 1-7/8" ball

the lightest 4x4 trailer is 130lbs but has those little 8" rims.... the same one with 12" rims is 150lbs
so 3,000lb car + 150lb for trailer + 700lb engine + 7 gas cans with 5.7 gal in each is 250ish-lbs = 4,100lbs well with-in specs.....

trailer info................................................

looking at it from a aerodynamic view....
the 8" rims put the trailer deck at about 19" where as the 12" rims and springs are 25" a sizable difference for a car, as that 6" higher load will = a hit in aro drag....hmmmmm
lay the engine over on its side and......yea now where talking....

Have you guys seen this?

http://www.pure-gas.org/ - Nationwide listing of stations selling non-ethanol gasoline.

I use this to plan my trips.

yep thats how i found those two places.

i just dont want to go out of my way to find E0 gas for "way more" then the 0.40c over 87-octane/E10 as its no longer $$$$$ effective at that point.
all those gas for less web sites don't care about the ethanol, its just low price is king....

i have one other possible way of getting the engine home, and thats a person that is in this area. that has a number of autos back there.
he would send me and 2 others with CDLs in one of his big trucks back east, load one dead auto on it. the other guy drives another auto that takes a CDL and a one ton or 1.5 ton with a 5th wheel trailer for me that would just so happen to have space for a JDM and 200 gal of WVO or any more i can find along the drive home......he he he
but thats a long shot at this point, i think the oods of it really happening are rather slim......

David, I'm going to Atlanta in a few weeks and could pick it up and bring it back to my place, that would save you a lot of time and mileage. I'm planning to come see you in the Spring and could bring it with me. Just let me know.

Ok. I've read this thread twice and still have no idea what we're trying to get where. Enlighten me. I might be able to help.
