route.......................................................... trying to plan this out some. if i run the little car back east and get a light trailer about the size of a 4X8 from harbor-freight maybe even the 4X4' size would work? id consider buying a used one, but it would need to still have good wheel bearings....as 3,000 miles is a long-long-ways the JDM engine trans is about 700lbs + 400lb trailer would keep me legal under OR law, as any loaded trailer under 1,800lbs is fully exempt from plates/tags, though lights are still required.... now the point to the map is gas, more to the point gas with no ethanol....... im looking for any station along the route thats with-in 40 miles or less of that line that sells any E0 gas thats road grade, not the $8.00+ a gal 110 race stuff lol for the return if i refuel at about the 1/3 marks of the route i only need to pack about 40 gal...15 of that goes in the tank thus that leaves the need for 5 - 5 gal cans to make the distance on the return getting a assumed 25 mpg average even though i figure it to be closer to 30 mpg. for the drive there ill likly pull north of 40 mpg, my record so far playing the mpg game with a 20 tale wind, is just under 50mpg i know first hand this little ford focus reacts strongly to 10% ethanol gas and i loose just about 4 mpg making 0.40cents a gal my brake even point... |

i ordered a JDM diesel from Japan, 4JB1-T or 2.8L it was mass shipped to the east coast to reduce over seas shipping with 4 other engines from Japan. a short video of one of the 5 engines before shipment over seas... ENGINE RUN TEST this little how-to is what got me going on the idea the Original plan was to run cross country in my 86 T\D on WVO for penny's, like i did 2 other times. get the engine and 200 gal of WVO enuf for the return drive, make it too the race weekend, stop by Jerry's, Jonny's, deliver a pup dash board. as well as a 2,000 mile side run up to NH with out the trailer ECT ECT but the fuel issue-tank pick up or lines, front end steering issue, boost issue, brake issue, among other autos needing fixing. out of all those the boost one is the scary one, as a replacement manifold is not easy to find. since its no longer Oct its rather clear that plan went BOOM in my face... so ive gone to plan B the wussy mobeal........ sadly doing this with the car, im going to have to ditch the oil as 7.7 x 200gal = 1,540lbs i could do it as over seas the car has a jaw dropping tow rating of 3,000lbs but id have a busted car when i got home....as there not exspecting a 3,000 mile run with that sorta load... state side it has a do not tow listing, with a if you have to stay under 1,000lbs....LOL ahh yes, the sue happy nation. |

yea ive been thinking about it. even if you just got it back to AR thats about a 1,400 mile run. or $200 less in gas for the car.. that just leaves $500 in gas + the trailer...getting to AR...and back though another way of looking at it, i have a bugger of a pile of random 4Z stuff...for trading...of the transport... and that pup dash that some one wants back east... i just need to get my rear in gear ive gotta stop getting projects.....and doing them..... as getting them is the easy part.... |

Where is the port of entry. I'm in Virginia. Maybe I can go pick it up. That would give me an excuse to meet up with Johnny when he comes this direction. He misses me.

asheville NC is more or less where there at. they came in to port back in Oct, and he moved them there.. sliding one of these in the back of a trop is no easy task these things are about 225lbs more then the 4Z engines. or 550 + 4WD-trans there's a reason i would want a little trailer to move it. as getting it in and out of a trop will be very hard... not saying it cant be done, but it will be a bugger..... |

Ok, I gotcha. Well, at this point I don't think I've got a load coming back, so I'll be able to fold up or remove the rear seat and will have all the room in the back. If I can have it to you by late April/early May, that would be better than making the cross country trip for it I'd think... and yes I'd love to trade you out of all that 4Z stuff :-) |

Holy shit Trooper Tdiesel, reading that was just like a normal conversation with my ADD girlfriend. She's already halfway done with the topic before anything comes out of her mouth so you always join the conversation half way through it. I read it a couple times and got it though! I'm driving out to Utah in June, let us know what you get worked out, I'm sure one or several of us can help somehow. |
