"I embody the one constant in this galaxy: war." — SurgerusSubject: Surgerus Dossier:
Long before serving as a dreaded warrior of the Sith, Surgerus was born as Tyrul Virilium on the planet Bnar VII, in 1676 BBY. His parents, workers within the planet's government administration, made their best efforts in providing a suitable childhood, in a period where war thrived within the galaxy, and was set to affect their very lives. The New Sith Empire, operating under numerous warbands of Sith Lords, loomed over the Braxant Sector, seeing to extend their reach further. In a bid to secure the region, the Jedi Order had deployed multiple knights, some of which were stationed in the city sector where Tyrul lived. As part of their efforts to bolster the war effort in anticipation of an invasion, multiple children were screened and adult civilians drafted for deployment. Tyrul, at the age of 15, was determined to have an affinity for the force. His family, having been beleaguered by the many years of preparation and work, consented, and Tyrul was hastily whisked away by his would-be master, Jedi Knight Mogrek Lomun.
The knight, a seasoned combatant in the ongoing New Sith Wars, explained the daunting extent to which the war had already spread throughout the galaxy, and what would be Tyrul's eventual role to play. Throughout their journey to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Mogrek began to teach the fundamental basics of the Force, ensuring that Tyrul was suitably grounded. In the resultant year, Tyrul progressed at a steady pace, showing a clear aptitude for wielding a lightsaber amongst his powers., having opted to take further, more intensive lessons. With the war only intensifying, Mogrek made preparations for Tyrul to be deployed on various relief missions, including the support of various battalions. During these years, Tyrul had the opportunity to witness the horror and brutality of the war first-hand, while also being forced into small skirmishes with Sith groups.
As time wore on, Tyrul became increasingly seasoned in war, having been forced to continuously hone his combat ability while he and his master were deployed to increasingly dangerous missions. At the height of his apprentice, Tyrul was assigned to a strike force on Honoghr, with the goal being to eliminate a Sith outpost, before it could be formed into a full staging base. Fighting with his master in tandem, Tyrul battled arduously against his Sith enemies, having been separated from his Master at point. Pitted against a Sith Warrior, feared for their combat prowess, Tyrul fought toe to toe with the combatant, eking out a victory at the battle's climax. With the outpost ravaged, the task force had accomplished its goal. With this feats of combat recognised, Tyrul was quickly thrust into contention for the Knight Trials, of which he ultimately passed.
Now a full-fledged Knight, Tyrul was sent into many more open conflict situations, honing his combat ability with each battle. it was during this period that the Jedi Knight encountered Kirk Halcyon, too well-known for his feats during the war. Together, both Jedi Knights carved a swathe into the ranks of Sith they battled. Much like his peer, Tyrul was regarded as a 'Battlemaster', championing the light's cause with each deployment. However, undisclosed to his allies, Tyrul had become increasingly weary from the conflict, alienated by the bloodshed and suffering caused, with no end in sight. This weariness culminated in the battleground of Malrev Iv, where after many weeks of fighting, the Jedi had forced the Sith to retreat into the remains of their temple. In a daring move, the Jedi forces, spearheaded by Jedi Master Yron Raun, carried out a direct assault on the temple, engaging the remaining Sith forces in close-quarters combat. As the Jedi made their way threw the scores of Sith, suffering losses of their own, Tyrul found himself against a Sith Sorcerer, alone. Sensing his resentment of the situation at hand, the Sorcerer manipulated Tyrul's doubt, managing to escape before the Knight could return to his senses. Enraged at his failure, Tyrul left the temple wordlessly, obsessing over the situation endlessly.
Overcome with grief and revulsion, followed by his exposure to the overwhelming dark side energies of the temple, Tyrul ultimately succumbed to the dark side. In a manic frenzy, Tyrul began to mercilessly slay Sith captive after captive, in a maddening attempt to redeem himself. Now, shunned by his peers, the disgraced Battlemaster was faced with the prospect of apprehension, as the Jedi forces initiated a manhunt. Faced with one group of Knights, Tyrul lashed out in sheer frustration, slaying the group. Now beyond redemption, the rogue Jedi fled, now set on slaying the source of his ire: the sorcerer who escaped. Convinced that the Sorcerer remained on the planet, a portion left unexplored by both Republic and Sith forces, Tyrul hunted down the Sorceror endlessly, locating his target within a small hideway, where the Sorcerer planned his own flight.
Anxious, Tyrul threw himself at the enemy's escape vessel, uncaring of the servitors at the Sorcerer's disposal. At the cost of his right arm and numerous other injuries, Tyrul slashed and stabbed away at the cabal, leaving a carved pile of corpses in his wake. Succumbing to exhaustion, Tyrul eventually awoke to find himself in captivity. In the hands of one of the many Sith Lords, the rogue Jedi was twisted and tortured, eventually forged into the dark-sided Marauder known as Surgerus. Tyrul now sought war to bury his shame and self-hatred, serving as a brutally effective weapon for the New Sith Empire in numerous battles. Now, set for deployment to Mizra, Sergerus awaited anxiously, yearning to exact vengeance on the order that forsook him once more. |
