I am not posting links back to my old, and CRAPPY, fic. (Shush.)

I can't remember the first fic I read, but I fel in love with this fandom because of the super high quality of everything posted.

And for fun, I want to just thank sexypinky for existing. Sexypinky has written 109 JB fics in Somali. No feedback, no love, low readership, and still, sexypinky kept posting. That is real dedication. So here is one of sexypinky's fics, translated (poorly) with google translate.

Quote:

Dhaarta (Oath) 5

Jaime with a good hand under the table.

"We'll keep you talking about Brienne like that," he said with a teeth.

Cisse her green eyes in the other person's cruelty. He used to see their eyes, but now, Jaime saw only a softening.

"Do not tell me you fucked Forbes in"? Her color was biting as she stood up and tore her.

He also stood up.

"I would die if I did not."

Ceedi Tweed, turnout, turned, with the balance of her.

"No advice you have been dead, over anything you are now."

Jaime kills a chair behind him, with his own self-righteous.

Why I'm a fool. The fool's gold.

He took a mirror reflection, and hard dribbles at a person he did not recognize.

We may not know who he was with, but he knew who he was.

And so he went for a search of someone of all the kingdoms who understood it.

justme, that is amazing!! Wacky, I love the gifset! :) I still have to catch up on all your fanfics, dammit! But the hiatus is long and full of terrors, so I have time. :)

I don't remember the first thing I read/saw in this fandom, tbh... The first thing I did was this: Posted Image

I also reblogged it on Tumblr, in case you're interested.

As for the memories, I don't have one specific moment in mind, but I want to say that all the best moments have been experienced on this board. You're all so great, I am so happy I decided to join and to start being more active in this fandom. <3

It's hard for me to pinpoint where exactly I started shipping JB. I am quite dense when it comes to picking up romantic clues, not unlike our gal, so it took me a little longer than most to get there. But I have always loved Brienne in book format and could not imagine anyone other than Gwen bring her character to the screen. I identify so much with Brienne, hearing many of the same cruel words growing up about my lack of "femininity." I wanted to cry when I first met her in the books because it was like reading my own story. There was finally someone that I felt like really got me.

This little bit on tumblr here really messed me up. I couldn't describe my own experience better. I think it was around then that I started to get it. She accepts herself for who she is, that she can be a lady AND be a knight AND that she will be loved for exactly that, not just by her friends, but my Jaime too.

Seeing that in her helped me to see that in myself. I'm grateful.

As to fandom memories and firsts, I must say that I was not at all into Game of Thrones. I only ever heard people obsess about it. And normally, when people obsess about it all the while, I deem it to mainstream to care (yeah, Wacky wants to feel so special in her tastes, LOL *flings hair back*). Since I was into social media by the time, I knew basic plot lines, I knew about death and boobies, who the dragon lady was and that so many loved her, and then the JC incest was obviously also something I was aware of.

So, I kept mostly away from this, until my mom started watching it. Sky showed them in endless loop since the new season was about to be made available. Mom was binge watching *hard.* We talked about it some, I only ever said what I knew from secondary sources. By that time, I'd started to *look a bit into the topic* and at the least stumbled over JB, though it was nothing specific and nothing shippy yet.

And then, one evening, The Bear and the Maiden Fair was on, and I only ever saw the bearpit scene. And if memory is not failing me here, I talked to my mom, and we discussed Jaime's character for a moment, how that was a heroic act, and that even though he is an incesty asshole at this point, LOL, and I said to myself (I may have said it out loud even, though I am no longer sure) that this guy must love the woman for whom he jumps into a friggin bearpit.

Well, and that had me sold. OTPs trying to save one another is JUST my jam. So, I started binge watching myself, and I rushed through the first seasons very fast - and along those lines started writing JB fanfic (Choices was the one I worked on first, but I ended up jumping in with Childhood Friends beforehand). I didn't have great knowledge yet, just wrote based on what I had gathered by the time, and having ZERO clue about geography of Westeros by the time. So I started posting on FF.net, not thinking much of it, having no clue about fanbase (I never bothered about that when it comes to shipping... I mostly only ever wrote and obsessed to myself). And then Lena basically picked me up as a stray and suggested that I start posting at Ao3, and along those lines that there is this online forum. And at first I was really... nervous about that, because I had never shipped in the group, LOL (I fangirled about actors with others before, but not really shipping buddies online, hehe). Well, and then I I fell down the rabbit hole, and I am so glad for it, because I had the pleasure and privilege to make the acquaintance of you guys.

So yeah, that was Wacky's initial experience with the JB fandom, LOL.

On that same note, another first I just want to give a brief mention to is that I only ever started doing things with gimp/manips/edits ever since I joined the fandom. So I am ever the gladder that I fell down that rabbit hole, because it opened up a whole new way of expression for me.

Speaking of, one more gifset for the day - I found a metallic filter to apply to gifs, and I found that kinda nice.

Well, I think I've told it in chat once..thing was, my old computer broke and while I was waiting "7 to 10 days" which turned into 16 days for the new one to be delivered, I had basically no internet time. Brother #2 gave me seasons 1-3 on DVD to watch, and I binge-watched the heck out of them. Once internet was up and running again, I immediately continued streaming the rest of what was available (Just in time for the hiatus between S5 and S6 to begin...)

JB had me basically at the beginning of their road trip. I hadn't read the books (still not finished with those) so I had no idea what was to come, but the moment they met I thought "Hmm...they don't like each other at all. Wouldn't it be awesome if that flipped 180°?" and so..naturally, eventually, I turned to fanfic to see if others see the same potential. The first fic I read, I honestly can't recall the name, was some bath-in-Harrenhal one shot on ff.net (hadn't discovered ao3 by then). I started out with canon only, going from short stories to longer ones, and then moved on to Mod AU..and I've been hooked ever since.

I found this place via google and I'm so effin happy I did because I got to meet all of you lovelies :)

Which brings me to my lovely moment: I love the support in this fandom. Whether someone wants to try their hand at writing fic or an essay, whether someone is in need of a beta or just someone that'll listen to headcanons and fic ideas, even if it's got nothing to do with JB at all and you just need to vent in the shoutbox, there's always someone here to encourage, help, and support you. You all rock :)

I didn't watch GOT at all for series 1,2 and 3 and then one of my computer classes (all geeky boys) told me I needed to see it because ICEZOMBIES.... Eventually my husband got me to binge watch series 1 (meh)... then series 2 (I liked the tough girl best).... then by the end of series 2 I was all about Jaime and Brienne on the road to Kings Landing and then series 3....Oh My Days!!!
Favourite thing from fandom "Beast & Beast" by SigilBroken, although my appetite for those Agatha Christie fics by Mikki and Quinn is huge, and I prefer them to the originals. No question.
First fic I did for JB fandom is On the Kingsroad by Sophie of Tarth - that's me!
And the first thing on tumblr

I'm such a sucker for a lovely JB week - I'm just a bit miffed I was sick for so much of this one!!
Love this fandom so much. Love the JB, love the board. I might not be participating much, particularly when work gets bad, but this is my favourite place on the interweb because people are lovely, generous, kind, supportive, and generally unicorns of loveliness.
Just saying.

I'm also not going to post a link back to my old fic, but I will say the first one I wrote was called I Should Be Over All The Butterflies and I've come a long way since. That story was a learning experience in itself but it's given me a couple of really great friends and got me back into loving writing so I think that's a win on all accounts.

The first things I read were openmouthwideye's West Eros High Series and ssstrychnine's Its Like Weather. Both still amazing and among my favourites today. If you haven't read either, even if you don't much like modern AUs, I'd recommend them. West Eros High is what got me started writing in this fandom.

(Oops, forgot to post my lovely moments!) This fandom is amazing, I'm always floored by the creativity, intelligence and level of support there is amongst everyone. JB weeks are also amazing and something I look forward to, both from a writing and a reading point of view. I'm one of the old guard and remember the old JB board, something which was a million miles away to how all the lovely mods have now taken us. It's lovely that we have this place to call our shipper home and popping in here at the end of the day can cheer me up no end. It's a wonderful thing :)

My fic for today, inspired and prompted by a comment made by Nik about The Braime Bunch spin off: Jaime on Tarth

I told this story in my intro thread but here goes. I actually found out about Fan Fiction from a Cracked article. they were making fun of the WORST GoT fan fiction, none of which were JB obviously. BUT each bit had links, most to FFN. I had just finished season 3 and was slightly obsessed with Jaime and Brienne so while I was there I started looking around. the first fic that really stuck with me was this one:

Battle of the Bands

Forgot to mention I did not find JBO for a couple of months and I only found it cause I kept seeing the Shuffled Challenge fics on AO3. Then I found some of the Monsters maidens and Crones Halloween fic tag, which praise the lord (and Mikki) had a link to the site.

I stumbled into shipping without having a name for it - it was just the sofa, roadtrip Jaime/Brienne, silent enthusiasm (as the flatmate was on the sofa with me, snorting whenever I got too obvious) and me.
When I couldn't watch S6 for different reasons I finally read the books, was shipping quite heavily, but still didn't have a word for it.

I think Facebook pushed me down the rabbit hole, as, one day, I found this in my all-female fencers group:
Posted Image

And suddenly I realized that there were things on the internet!!! - and registered to Tumblr.
On Tumblr I got to know of AO3, suffered some weeks with insanely little amounts of sleep, saw JBO being mentioned again and again, lurked a little, and finally jumped right in.

The first fics I read were by SigilBroken, thought I can't recall the exact order.
The first thing I wrote myself turned out to be Chapter 2 of "Old Gods and the New", but was originally written for the "Valentine's Day Ficlet Fest".

Three moments... It's hard to put a pin into it when there's so much:
The community! All these lovely people, to discuss with, analyze, rant, chat, swoon, vent, laugh, watch... the list could go on and on.
The amazing art, videos, manips, gifs, moodboards, and most of all: Fanfics! There's so much talent in this fandom, and the encouragement is incredible! JBO got me back into writing, and I'm extremely happy for that.
I haven't been in the fandom all that long, but I already got a rather uncountable amount of moments, situations, memories dear to me, that I wouldn't wanna miss.

Well, I fell in love with Jaime in January 2002 (when I first read Storm of Swords) and then I fell in love with Brienne and J/B like Bran falling from a tower (sorry, too soon?) in November 2005, and I've off and on (due to the infrequency of the book) shipped them ever since, but the raging white-hot shipper love started for me again during season 3 of GoT which is also when I wrote my first GoT and J/B fanfic Terra Incognita. And since then I don't know how many thousands of words I've written and read about Jaime and Brienne (both fic and meta.) Because, hello, obsessed!

The first fic I read is alas now deleted, but it was book based and I've been racking my brains trying to remember the author's pseudonym just in case maybe someone else experienced it too :) I might have it downloaded on an old kindle, because otherwise it will drive me insane until o remember her name. But the title was something like "When Spring Swaps ... somethingsomething" and it was lovely and bittersweet.

And the first J/B video I feel in love with was by our very own ChiaraTippy - it's called "It'll Always Be Yours" but I adore all of Chiara's vids to be honest.

It was a hot day in June, 2014. A head cold plagued me, and Sam Spade was out looking for dames.

Okay fine, but the cold part is true. I was really bored, so I binged Game of Thrones, determined to finish at least the entire first season. I had tried twice before and was never really "captured" by anything. Literally everyone around me was obsessed though, so I had a deep need to understand WHY. I finished season one in about three days, still not terribly engaged, but Ned's death definitely intrigued me. On to season two, and Cat's storyline was pretty dang good. Then she met Brienne, and I remember vividly thinking, "Ooh, good, finally a character that's something really cool."

By the middle of season two, I was genuinely hooked and actually cared about a handful of characters. Then there was JB. They got in that boat. They bickered. GONER. I felt the ship happening. I knew that feeling from being a lifelong shipper anyway, but I also knew, "Yikes, this one is a bad one. This case is potentially chronic. I feel the sickness flow into my veins!" So obviously I sought treatment on Tumblr because where else does one go for overtly shippy crap? I binged season three in two days, and that was the week of Watchers on the Wall which was the first episode I viewed live. I found Mikki on Tumblr and joined the board, and then I started reading all the books which I finished by September. The first fic I read was Janie Tangerine's "I'll be the frosting to your cupcake, Wench" and it was rom-com glory and I was gone.

Thus is fate. It's a BAD case of shipping. Definitely chronic. Maybe fatal. I wrote my first JB fanfic that July right after season four finished. It was "Stacked" and while I look back and see that there's a lot of ooc stuff, I'm fond of it because it was the thing that got me writing again after a long time, and now I'm some kind of fiend who write vibrator fics for dares ;)

So...that's another JB Week in the bag. This one was great!

The Collection on AO3 will stay open for a while, and this forum will sit at the top for a month or two.

We are leaving the Crown open as well. We will let that come to a natural conclusion. Please, feel free to take a turn.

This week started out with some rough events and I think we all were a little down, but we all have each other.

The hiatus is long and will be full of bullshit. Let's all use fandom as a haven.

Thank you all so much.
