Poison Guidelines

Poison Ranks:
Poisons take up jutsu slots. Poison ranks are also interchangeable with Jutsu ranks. These ranks follow the rules for Jutsu Rank however the poison would not be as powerful as a jutsu of that rank.

Doses of Poisons
The number of doses of any given poison or its antidote an RPC may have are determined by moderator discretion and may be based on a number of factors, such as poison-related traits, number of different poisons, the poison's rank in relation to the user, number of poison-related jutsu the user has, and other factors. A dose is treated as one vial/bomb/tablet or one unit of a coated weapon (Each senbon coated with your poison is treated as an individual dose, for instance). It is also important to know, that while some poison type jutsu can create poison for usage in specific techniques, usage of any given poison will still reduce the number of doses you have left in your inventory. A moderator will determine how many doses of poison your RPC may have of that poison upon acquisition.

Who Can Have Poison:
Anyone! So long as you spend a trait point to acquire the 'Poison Access' Trait.

Poison Resistance:
By default, the user of a poison is not immune to their own poisons effects. A custom trait or jutsu like ability may be needed to gain resistance.

Poison Fatality:
For balance purposes, a poison is incapable of killing an RPC. At best, a poison can only severely debilitate an RPC to a near death state.

Antidotes:
Your character can have antidotes to their poisons, but each dose of an antidote is counted as a normal dose of poison in terms of numbers.

Sample Poison Effects:
Below is a small list of acceptable effects for each rank. If a certain effects is not listed here, then they will be judged according to the below list. But this list is by no means an exhaustive one. Also, this list is only to serve as guidelines. Please listen to your moderator in case of any discrepancies from this list, mainly as dosage amounts, duration time, activation time, or other things may also influence the rank for the poison. Bear in mind things such as the effect duration and activation time may affect the overall strength allowed for a poison at a given rank.

D-rank poisons should cause mild annoyances, and mental distractions like sneezing or a little dizziness. They may also cause tingling feelings, or cause a body to chill. D-ranked poisons typically have an effect duration of 1 post.

C-rank poisons should have some potency. These poisons may alter the perception of senses in much the same way as mild hallucinations, sharp bursts of pain or severe dizziness. They may also cause body temperature fluctuations. C-ranked poisons typically have an effect duration of 1-2 posts.

B-rank poisons would actually be able to do damage. They may cause muscles and nerves in regions to become less active, weakening that part of the shinobi's body. They can also cause the victim excruciating pain or make them vomit or expel other bodily liquids. B-ranked poisons typically have an effect duration of 2 posts.

A-rank poisons are seriously dangerous to get afflicted with. They can cause extreme in several parts of the body. Total paralysis of an affected region is also possible. Other possible effects may be sensory deprivation (not sight). A-ranked poisons typically have an effect duration of 2-3 posts.

S-rank poisons are extremely dangerous. These poisons generally surpass A-ranked poisons in terms of severity of their effects. Their unique chemical properties are strong enough to debilitate even the strongest of shinobi with just a slight exposure to it. Despite the high toxicity this rank of poison possess, S-ranked poisons are incapable of killing, especially RPCs, and tend to have longer activation time and/or shorter effect duration. This is not usually the case however as it varies from poison to poison. S-rank poisons typically have an effect duration of 2-4+ posts.

Potent Poisons
While normal poisons cannot lower stats below 25, a potent poison has the ability to lower it all the way to 0 if the poison attacks a certain area and is balanced enough to be accepted. A few examples of what a potent poison can do are blindness, deafness, and paralysis.

Here is a guideline that will tell you the minimum rank a potent poison has to be in order to cause an effect:

Blindness
Severity of poisonMinimum Rank of PoisonEffect on Stats
Spotted VisionDNothing
Blurred VisionCPerception in the eye goes down to 5
Blindness for 1 postBPerception in the eye goes to 0 for 1 post
