There was always that feeling. The feeling that someone was watching Kaze. No matter where he went, eyes were trained on him, eyes he couldn't escape. Even if he managed to gain a few minutes of room away from his 'butler', he knew that it would only be that long for him to be found again. Discovering what he had, everything felt a little numb. He was being constantly followed by a shinobi, lurking in the shadows. It was part of the reason why he had decided to come to the Fang Country, he wanted to see the country which neighbored his own, and more to the point, so long as Mr Makato was close his parents wouldn't give a damn. Oh wait, they wouldn't give a damn anyway... There was so little reason for him to return home, only to return to the village for his first mission as a genin, though I'm sure they wouldn't mind if he took a brief detour on the way. Kaze hadn't gone far into the borders of the Fang Country, but he had ventured far enough in to find a village. It was quaint. The country had a lot of woodland in it, a stark contrast to the frozen tundra of Crystal. It was refreshing however, rather than abnormal. The village he had found was built around a hill with a large tree which was situated on the top. It was magical. Kaze would make his way through the village, he would get a number of looks, whether they were at his clothes, his headband or him was uncertain, but none seemed sinister. He made his way through the village to the top of the hill and sat down on a bench which faced towards the Crystal country. Ahead of him he could see in the distance where the ice took hold and began turning into the Crystal Mountains. So close... I wish I wasn't... Edited by Eden, Sep 27 2013, 11:27 AM.

Having explored out from Kodachigakure Vas was scoping out the sites of the forest and looking for a proper place to make a den when he had spotted the boarder town. Though seriously, what was it with those Kodachi-whatsit people and living in a tree? That's for the squirrels that is. In any case he was now in the town now, having only recently arrived. His first act was to use what he called the "alter self" spell, which the humans here called hedge or hinge or..well something like that. With the spell he cloaked himself in the illusionary form of a small to medium sized dog. Nothing special, just some mutt breed by appearance. Like this he started roaming through town listening to people's gossep. Sure a few people noted him or commented on him, but it was amazing how often he was simply ignored, it was another of those odd traits of the humans. Still most of what he overheard was boring, but he did notice a slight buzz going on about one particular matter. Apparently the nations of this land were in rather tight relations right now so the news that a young individual bearing the markings of the crystal country's she-no-be was spreading rather quick. ::Oooh, juicy gossip! Vas must inquire further!:: And so he started listening for talk about this stranger and fallowing looks and directions pointed out by other people. It took a bit but eventually he found a person who defiantly did not fit in. For one he was dressed all prissy! ::Do all the people in that Crystal country dress like that? Weird. I'll have to ask him in a bit, but first I think this situation calls for a bit of fun. Hmmm what to do what to do. I could set off a stink bomb under there but that might drive him away.. same with water balloons. This looks like the job for, the stare! Bum Bum Buuuuuummm!:: With that thought, and his disguise still up, he slowly circled around the person in the bench, having approached from behind. Once he was in front of the person and sure he was fully out of reach by a good ten feet or so, he sat down and well, stared. It wasn't a threatening stair or anything like that. He just watched the boy in a way that almost seemed to say, "You are there, and I am fully aware of this." Although in Vas's head... ::Yessss, yesss human. Feel it. Feel my stare as I observe you! Know that I watch you and your every movement! Feel the odd discomfort! BWA HA HA HA HA HA!!!:: Yeah... Vas's ways weren't always what most considered normal. |

Hopefully I'll get my first mission quickly, I'm really not feeling like hanging around that ice pri-... His thoughts were cut short, as some beast of an animal came around the back of the bench. This wasn't the thing that got him, what got him was that the dog position itself a little distance away and then proceeded to sit and stare at him. Why? WHY?! There seemed to be no reason for it. It had appeared as if from nowhere and was no harrassing Kaze with his eyes. The worst part was there wasn't any other movement. No gesture as if he wanted to Kaze to follow him, just sitting. Staring. I never really interacted with any animals unless Makoto said it was ok... Though this one looks a lot different to the dogs I used to see... That would be because it was a mutt instead of a pure breed with immaculate fur etc etc. Kaze had rarely been exposed to things not 'worthy' of him. Clearly cross breed dogs were one of them. This didn't make things any more comfortable for him, though he was used to his fair share of being stared at by now... actually it was probably a lot more than his fair share but thats what you get for flamboyant dress. After about 5 minutes of the dog staring at him, Kaze however finally broke, speaking to the dog in common so that it might perhaps understand what he was saying. "What do you want?" |

In his head Vas continued his maniacal laughter and taunting. ::YES! Am I angry, hungry, judgmental? What am I doing? Why do I stare? You can feel it boring into you! Boring into your...:: And that's about when the boy finally broke, though it seemed he wasn't stressed enough to full on snap at Vas, which was probably for the best. However it also meant that it was time for Vas to make his next move. Standing up he walked forward until he was out of reach of the boy, just in case he had any, well, less than favorable reactions to what he was planning. Once up near him he just sat down again, stared up him, and waited. He wouldn't wait as long this time, simply a good half minute or until the boy started to reach out toward him. For if the boy did start to reach for him he'd wait until his hand was almost near him. See, everyone always have the best startled reactions when they are leaning toward what startles them. What Vas would do was wait for that right moment then suddenly rise up on his hind legs, drop his henge, spread his wings full, and shout an age old phase for situations like this, "BOO!" Laughing Vas would give a quick hop backward, pumping his wings to move himself back a few paces before settling down again. "Oh, Pumpkin, what I wanted was nothing more then to see how you'd react. What's your name by the way? Are you really from that Crystal country place? Do you all dress like that? Are you.. wait wait.. no no getting ahead of myself again. Too many questions too fast. Back to the first one, name! I'm Vasithenakthouss but you should probably just call me Vas as you'd more than likely just horribly butcher my full name. Heh, you silly humans and your odd shaped mouths. You know it's amazing you guys ever manage to fit anything in them they're so small. Heck this one time I.. wait.. no.. sorry I didn't let you answer AGAIN! Man I'm bad at this. That's always the problem with the stair is sitting still that WHOLE TIME! Anyways, what was you name?" Like he expected, there was no response, or at least not immediately. The animal did however move toward him after a moment although once again stopping a short distance away from him. The dog clearly wanted Kaze's attention but he didn't know what to do. He had no food, no water, and ultimately could not speak dog so was a little lost. Kaze would bend over so that his eyes were on level with the animal. He had been taught that you can tell a lot from a person's eyes, surely the same was for an animal, or at least hopefully. "What do you want..." His quiet rhetorical question would be cut short as the image of the dog fell away and a beast of scales rose from where the dog had been. The reaction caught Kaze completely off guard, an involuntary reaction of lurching backwards on the bench, however there was a limit to how far back the boy could go. His back hit the wood hard, his eyes wide, he didn't know what to do. He had been training for the last year to react in this situation but he couldn't find it within himself. As it would have it the being would go backwards itself, which in turn gave Kaze a better perspective on things. The being wasn't actually that much bigger than himself, if anything it was smaller. And then it would talk. The beast could talk. Although, it could talk well, swiftly, but well. His mind was confused by so many questions so quickly, Kaze himself had a few questions himself, mostly what manner of being was this. Vasithenakthouss... definitely not your traditional name... and whats with the whole pumpkin thing? Kaze would wait until the being had finished. Ironically this was one of the longest conversations he'd had. Usually it was a one sided affair with a teacher talking at him, or other jeering at him, but this was the first time he had been actively expected to make a contribution to a conversation. Typical that this would occur with a being that he had no idea of whether it was of this earth. It was that fact however that he did not understand and as such made him nervous. He had been taught how to speak, but this was not a human, though how different could things be? "My name is Kaze Sashi, 7th in line of the Sashi name. The Crystal country is indeed where I originate from, although my family is very much set apart from the main population, particularly in the way we dress. If you don't mind me asking Vasithenakthouss, where are you from? I don't believe I have ever seen a being such as yourself before, and your accent suggests that you have come from one of the main 4 villages." It wasn't till afterwards that Kaze realized that he had used Vas' full name instead of the shortened version that had been suggested. Name's were very particular to certain people, mispronounce a single syllable and the name can be complete changed. That being said, this was something Kaze had been taught to perfection. First impressions on a person makes a big impact. If you can call them by their true name without any need for change, it shows that you are someone who takes time and pride in what you do... or something like that. At Kaze's comment about being 7th in line Vas immediately began scratching something in the dirt using a strange spidery language. Finally he put a talon on one line and smiled nodding. Well nodding until his name was said and he looked up with the equivalent of an eyebrow raised. He let Kaze finish before he said anything though. Instead he just scratched six more symbols on the ground. "I learned some of the language in one of the villages yes, it's remarkably similar to the common language where I'm from, a place called Nirmathas, on a world called Golarion, particularly I lived in the Mindspin Mountains. As for what I am, I'm a copper dragon of course and here's an interesting thing about dragons for you. Our language has at least six different, well you'd call them hisses, each varied on intensity and where they oriinate in the mouth or throught." He pointed down to the second set of symbols he etched out. "Consequently, you just called me... I think it's a type of egg salad popular in the Mwagi Expanse. Never tried it myself. However if you keep mispronouncing my name like that, I'm going to have to keep calling you Pumpkin. That's one of your human terms of endearment, or pet names, right?" The whole second part of this he said with a grin. Then he pointed to the first set of symbols and pointed to one of the lines again. "Consequently you're a curvy line, which is good. They're usualy the most odd which makes them more fun. Hmmm a curvy line in a family that dresses oddly.. I'm guessing that's formal dress? Reminds me of something I saw some higher ups in Magnimar wear when I visited that one time. Ah that was fun times. Oh! Hey do you have any stories about where you come from? What's it like there?" |

The being may not have been of this earth but that gives no excuse to turn around to them and turn their name into a type of egg salad. It was at this point he was usually beaten after for causing such offence, it was a situation he had tried to never get back into, especially after the first time... the first and the last, until now that is. The fact that this being was in fact a dragon somewhat blew away the grim thoughts that had inhabited Kaze's mind. He had been given a chance that very few had ever been given, that very few would ever be given. Dragons had only ever been fabled stories, however what he had in front of him was the real thing. He was in awe. It had its own native tongue, its own written language. It even seemed to understand jokes and the way to structure them judging by the way it 'threatened' to keep calling Kaze Pumpkin. Kaze looked down at his clothes as Vas commented on his clothing. "These are actually my everyday clothes believe it or not. My family have always been one obsessed with image. If you want to see formal dress you should come to our chateau in the Crystal Mountains. When I was younger I was always made to go to these evenings. There would be music, dancing, fireworks, all manners of entertainment. I never cared much for them though. It was always a competition, who could throw the most grand event." Kaze would stop, paused in thought, his gaze fixated on the mountains. After a moment he would shake his head and look back at the dragon. "Apologies Vas, I haven't seen eye to eye with my family for a great deal of time, that however is no excuse for me to act this way. I myself am actually looking to explore the lands of Jinsei right now. Where is Golarion? Its not a place I am familiar with." |

::Ah darn, he actualy called me Vas, does this mean I don't get to call him, Pumpkin? Perhaps I should call him the name of some other goard, squash? Naw.. last time I called someone that they ran in fear. Then again i was a bit bigger then.:: This ran though Vas's head as he listened to Kaze Speak of his home and the parties there. The parties sounded interesting, but at the same time his partents sounded like prudes, so they probably weren't his kind of parties. Exept maybe those fire works. Sounded like something those performers did, or maybe the works of an alchemist. Finaly though it seemed it was his turn to speak again. "Oh Golarion is, well hard to say from here. I know we arn't on the same contenant, the magic is... different. Which either means this is a differnt plane ooor well a different world. Probably both. See, where I'm from magic.. is um similar to, well uh jutsu? Yeah. Jutsu. Exept when we do it wrong, it doesn't just fizzle or just go boom. It can warp really reeeally oddly. Example a fireball spell might summon a couple of bats if you stoped it at that right part of the incantation. Consequently, I... might just have well.." A small smirk crossed his face. "Made a few small alterations to an experimental spell that I think was suposed to desintigrate me. Instead I ended up here in a pile of fish fingers and custard. Unfortunatly it makes getting home virtualy imposible." |

It was interesting hearing about Vas' home. How such a place could exist was almost beyond comprehension but equally, the fact that somewhere other than Jinsei existed was no surprise. Odds were against them being the only ones who existed. Who knows how many other alternate realities, timelines and worlds existed. Even Jinsei bordered on the unknown. I wonder what it is like beyond the borders of Jinsei... Maybe there could be more of the this magic that Vas talks of. The idea had truly caught the interest of Kaze. He had been taught so much about the world he lived in that not knowing something was a thought he relished. He wanted to find out. Perhaps one day he would get such an opportunity. "So you came here through the use of 'magic'? How exactly does it work? Is it through the use of those symbols you drew? It sounds as if it is very similar to jutsu, channel your chakra in a certain way or change the hand seals even slightly and you can get a completely different effect." From what Vas had said, jutsu and magic were very similar. If Kaze could understand the magic perhaps he could help Vas, or even more combine jutsu and magic to create something new, something evolved. Jutsu is already so powerful in this world, if one could wield this magic and combine the two... He might have called me pumpkin but Vas' world sounds so interesting. |

Now Vas sat back on his haunches and thought moment. "Well... magic. It's kinda hard to pin down. See in a way there are lots of different kinds. It can be bottled in potions, written in scrolls and tombs, or be cast with the right words, gestures, and at times material components. It comes naturally to some like my kind, or it can be studied like what some people called wizards do. Course that way's a bit odd. The spells don't like staying in your head when you learn them so one cast and you almost have to relearn it. It also comes from lots of different sources. Heck I once had this weird spell warped horse tell me friendship was magic, but that was probably more from the fermented berries she had just been eating." He shrugged then looked around. "I haven't seen everything your jutsu can do but they are both limited and more versatile at the same time. For example I haven't seen anything that could turn someone into a pumpkin. Where I come from you it's a difficult spell but it's doable. Our illusions are also very simple to change from one thing or another, but yours it's almost always the same effect. I mean you basic Silent Image spell, you call it a bush-in or something like that, you just make an image of yourself. Talk about slitting your creativity. Your deities here must be some real prudes." ::Should I be saying that out loud here? Ah well if there's something gods love it's atheists. Give's 'em something to aim for. Luckily I don't see any thunder clouds sprouting out of no where.:: |

Magic certainly did sound complicated in comparison to the normal simplicity of jutsu, though after a few moments of thought, how was it much different to some of the techniques shinobi employed. Certain jutsu only required concentration to use, others needed specific items and weapons to use, and all of this had to be learnt by shinobi at one point in their lives. In that light it seemed that perhaps Magic and Jutsu weren't as far apart as Vas believed them to be, or perhaps they were looking at two of the same thing. The channeling of energy from oneself and that around them to create something new. Vas did go on to make a good point, creatively they were behind magic, whether that was a technical difference or not Kaze was unsure of. "Perhaps they were, or perhaps we have yet to truly gain a grasp of the power that we were given by them. New jutsu is being created almost daily these days, its allowing us to do more and more. It might be that your Magic is simply a more polished version of jutsu. I could cause an elemental bunshin to become a pumpkin if I so wished, but it would require more effort on my part than it might with your magic. Alternatively a genjutsu could be cast to make you believe a pumpkin was there. Can you still use your magic here?" It was something that had occurred to Kaze, if Vas could still use Magic in this world then it was clearly something based on the being themselves rather than the world around them. |

Vas tilted his head at the comment about an elemental bunshin and turning it into a pumpkin. ::Elemental bushin? An elemental illusion. So is he talking about turning an illusion of fire into a pumpkin? As in an illusionarry pumpkin or a real one? Gah why do they use such weird words?:: Finally though he sighed and shook his head. This kid is weird. "Nah, I can't use the same spells I had. Most just don't work. See I can kinda feel the magic in the air, only here it's like well. I guess the best way to describe it would be the its like walking into the dryness of a dessert or near an active lava vent. Normally you don't notice it until you feel that difference. I could probably restructure my spells in time, but yeah. I'm pretty much back to when I was a hatchling in regards to my magic as well as my shape. I-uh, used to be a bit bigger then most horses to give you an idea there. Hopefully I don't have to wait another hundred years before I'm that size again. Blug. Well now this is getting me depressed along with bored. Want to see one of the tricks I've developed since I got here?" As he said this he pulled one of the copper tunes out of his harness, opened a cap on it and pricked his finger on it. Then sticking his talon in his mouth for a moment he recapped the needle inside. "It was both the curse and blessing of my species back home that most of our body parts could be used as catalysts and materials for spells, and it seems that still holds true here. Now this one is a bit of fun all you need to do is hold it straight up and insert some energy into it." He then held it out to his new vict-er um 'friend'. |

The fact that the dragon couldn't use all his abilities and spells was almost as reassuring as it was disappointing. Kaze wanted to see magic first hand, there surely weren't many who could perform such a thing. Most of the time when he had heard of magic he had assumed it to be a trick of the eye or that the performer was using jutsu but this being could hold actually magic, the kind which turns pumpkins into carriages and all that. He was curious when the being offered to demonstrate a piece of magic that he had managed to learn while in Jinsei. This being was surely talented and to create a trick even when it admitted that this place was a lot harder to do it in was nothing short of impressive. Kaze would take the item from Vas and hold it upright. "By energy I presume you mean chakra?" Kaze would channel some of his chakra into the object. Oh what would happen? |

Now the item was of course one of Vas's water balloon cluster bombs. The needle he'd used to prep it was the instant release setting. The moment the chakra was entered it's full payload of water balloons. Granted his friend/target had only pointed the rod up and not held it over himself so it was likely to save him a bit. However, several balloons would still fall between them and cover the surrounding area in a spray of water, to which point Vas would smirk, obviously trying to hold back laughter. Sure he did get wet but it was the surprise for his companion he liked. "To be fair, I did say it was a trick. I used the basic concept with a bag of holding and inverting it to wotk with your uuuh foo-man-choo no no, uh fuuinjutsu! I also have almost figured out how to do a glitter dust spell! Funny story I first tried this with pumpkins to see if it would work with other things. They just imploded though." |

"Gah!" Kaze would involuntarily drop the item that had housed the water balloons as they sprung forth into the sky above. For the second time today he would rock back against the bench with surprise, except this time he ended up soaked thanks to the balloons. The saving grace was that he was wearing so many layers that he hardly felt the water on his skin... well other than on his head. It was clear that the dragon was amused by the trick. Kaze couldn't help but sigh gently, he had been warned and fell completely into the trap. So much for always being aware. There is however a quick way to dry oneself in such a situation. Kaze would simply active Astral Aura, the wind around him growing ferocious. Never thought I'd use this technique for an actual purpose. At what other point would I need to have the air around me move rapidly? "Whats your fascination with pumpkins? Oh, and don't bother using that technique on me, not feeling like imploding thanks." |

With a grin Vas spread his wings and shook spraying a few droplets of water. Kaze however seemed to have other ideas on how to dry himself. A sudden wind burst up surrounding him , tossing his hair and cloths about. "Oh! Neat trick! But I'm not fascinated with pumpkins, they were just all I could find is all. I really prefer watermelons, way spiffier when they go boom. Learned that from a gnome actually. Anyways, I needed an organic object before I tried it on any animals. I mean can you imagine? Nothing says chaos like a pack of squirrels lot loose in a household! Horrible horrible, squirrels. . ." He paused, going quiet a moment before snapping out of what ever daze he went into, only to sit up. "I have suddenly decided that I'm hungry! Let's go get some food." |

Watermelons, pumpkins, still round...ish... fruits and/or vegetables... "I can't say that being surrounded by squirrels is particularly appealing to me either." The dragon would seem to trail off into his own thought before suddenly popping back into the realm of the living and conscious. "Food would be nice." Kaze would get up off the bench continuing. "There looked to be a few places within the main village where we could purchase a few things, hopefully they don't mind a Crystal shinobi and a dragon... though I suppose you are technically working for the Kodachi village judging by the symbol you have." It seemed odd to Kaze that the village would allow such a creature to become a 'shinobi", though after a few moments though a few reasons began popping into his head, the main one to be to monitor Vas, both to understand his abilities but also to try and control him should something happen. The longer they had to study him the more information they would have about trying to stop him. Information really is power sometimes... Kaze would make to walk down from the hill that he had been perching on and down to the village below, though he would wait to ensure that Vas was also coming along. "So what does a dragon such as yourself like to eat? Can't say you look much like a vegetarian if you don't mind me saying." |

"Kodachi... yes I think that's what they call it. Nice people so far. Though it's not my preferred scene, I like good strong stone to burrow into but, their place is ok. Plus, it takes two to tell a joke and I doubt I'll be seeing to many of my kind wandering about." He started out trotting beside Kaze as he walked, then with a bound he took to the air and started circling around Kaze overhead, occasionally swooping down in cork screws and hovering along in front of him. "Heh, and no I'm not a vegetarian, I'm more omnivorous then you humans, and before you ask, no I don't have a thing for pumpkins. They give me terrible gas. Although they are handy if you plan on pestering a red. Flying in to a death cloud like that's enough to nock anyone out of the air!" He gave a chuckle before continuing. "No, the best thing, like EVER? Totally, giant scorpions. As the old adage says, 'Drnii fiirayli myniehubairamy drnii ziundr', which means, uh, 'The venom sharpens the wit.' I can really eat just about anything. Most trees are good for fiber, fish are good for energy when they're heading upstream, deer and goats are always a fun chase. Hmmm oh, limestone and iron ore are good for the bones and add strength to the bones and scales while gold, silver and copper are good for that shine." He grinned as said the last. "Bears, are boring and taste weird, and I try to avoid the more intelligent species, even orcs because well, bleg. You have to wash them for like forever to get the stink out and they shout at you the whole time. Humans taste weird too. I've had kobold on occasion but they literally ask for it and cheer when you snack on one or two, but really they are stringy as can be and there isn't usually that much meat on them. Oh and don't eat lead, it just sits in your stomach and weighs you down. So what do you like to eat?" |
