Well, Disney said the EU does not influence the new films. How do you guys feel about this... |

Great. There's too much nonsense anyway... But that's not all, they also confirmed that all future Star Wars content to be canon, including the games. And for The Old Republic, one Lucasfilm rep told GameSpot, "[A]s far as The Old Republic MMO is concerned, nothing is going to change. [TOR] has always been a part of the Expanded Universe, and that's not going to change." Edited by Tpiom, Apr 26 2014, 10:22 AM.

Technically it is...it's been swiped. Which means Kyle Katarn, HK, and all those pals don't exist... |

They said they consider the continuity of the Expanded Universe separate from the films, which is the same thing Lucas has been saying for years. |

I'm pretty sure KOTOR at least is safe being 4000 years earlier, of course I haven't given a flaming crap about what's "canon" ever since the whole "Meetra Surik" fiasco |

Further proof KOTOR is probably still canon, saw an episode of Clone Wars, can't remember the title but it was about the droids and a small alien republic official getting stranded on some weird desert planet, they meet a clone named Gregor if that helps identify which episode. But anyway back to the point, the tiny alien officer makes a reference to Malachor in dialogue in the context of how people refer to hell, so since the "new canon" entails the movies and the clone wars show that means they have to include references made within the movies and clone wars, so because Malachor was mentioned in a context that supported its hellish appearance is proof that Malachor does exist or existed before its destruction, and it also proves that it was made into appear as an equivalent of hell by some destructive event(Bao-Dur's Mass Shadow Generator) So there you have it, The Clone Wars references an important element of KOTOR's plot(Malachor and it's environment), so I'll personally interpret that as KOTOR MUST BE CANON! Also because the great and underrated game Star Wars Bounty Hunter explains how Jango's clones came to be, and it's ending is referenced in Episode 2, "I was hired by a man called Tyranus on a MOON OF BOGDEN" (the moon featured in game), and because there are no conflicting stories of how Jango became the host of the clones, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say at the very least, that game is canon too! Suck it JJ Abrams! Edited by LukeDavis93, Sep 23 2014, 03:18 AM.

I remember that episode - it was the one with the amnesiac clone and that little weird green colonel for the Republic. It was called MISSING IN ACTION. And you're right, it does mention Malachor in the episode, and I agree that it should be considered canon, as a result. Unfortunately, I don't think this means all of KOTOR is considered canon, but it's interesting how several KOTOR references are made during TCW series. In the last season, the sith homeworld of Korriban is visited by Yoda (even though they've changed the name to "Moraband"...**heresy**...and another novelized character of Karpyshyn's (Darth Bane) also makes an appearance. You also have other planets mentioned in the series like Taris (senator from there) and Manaan (featuring two Selkath bounty hunters), and don't forget Mace Windu fighting droids on Dantooine in the original Clone Wars cartoon. I believe a reference was also made to the terentatek beasts that you encounter on Kashyyyk and Korriban. Anyway, I'm not sure any of this matters. The events of KOTOR occur 4,000 years before the movies, and going forward, they just want a clean slate and not be tied down to any previously-told content. KOTOR will always be considered canon to me though, and if they never focus on any era in the movies aside from the galactic republic era like in all the previous movies, then it doesn't really matter. KOTOR is more interesting anyway, and I'd rather they just leave it alone and not ruin IT too! Edited by Yceman, Sep 23 2014, 01:10 PM.

Yes I remember the terentatek reference as well, I believe Dooku made that reference. I think the creators of the "new canon" just got lazy, they didnt want to sort through what can and SHOULD be canon so they just ignorantly blurted "the movies and the clone wars" in a sad attempt to shut everyone up. But if they plan on abusing the fans then they're setting a piss poor tone for the new Star Wars media to come Now I could be more lenient to these newcomers that think they're gonna flush our EU investments down the crapper if they were more select about which EU elements are and are not canon, they don't want pre existing stories post-ROTJ to be canon, fine, I love the Jedi Knight/Dark Forces series but if they get wiped in exchange for KOTOR remaining then it's whatever, I don't love that but atleast KOTOR wouldn't get shafted that way |
