No. Your wrong. That's like saying whenever you fail a exam test, your automatically dumb. Whenever a main character dies, then its either to progress the story line, or open way for a sequel for a new character.

And no offense but that comment you just made is kinda stupid.

But it doesn't kill the story. It starts it.

After the Apprentice is killed, the Rebel Alliance is formed and the war against the Empire begins and a new hero arises in the form of Luke Skywalker.

The Apprentice dies so the rebellion can live.

Now I personally don't like the story as it turns Vader into a wimp and makes the Alliance a pawn of the Emperor that broke free rather than what I feel it should have been - a clear message of intent from the rebels who weren't tricked into joining together but did so of their own accord because they believed in the cause and were willing to risk everything for that chance of freedom.
Try Not. Do...Or Do Not. There Is No Try.

Well said Vadakin! ;)

So, basically the apprentice sacrifices him self so the republic could fight against the emperor.

If Starkiller had just thought his plan out a little more carefully then he might have escaped along with the senators

Well Vadakin they weren't tricked into uniting. They were still willing. And starkiller had doubted his intentions since vader almost killed him.

well techically vader did kill him and after months of painful and humiliating operations involving a red rubber balloon they finally got a pulse out of him

That would be almost impossible as most of his memory would be lost as his cerebrum would freeze and break in outer space. But that's not what this argument is about anyway.

Still how is killing the main character bad for the story. It's not like it was in the middle of the game and then the main character switches to someone else.
