Does anyone remember this game? It was a little gem that got lost in the mass of licensed Star Wars games that hit mid-prequel trilogy.

You play as Jango Fett hunting Kamari Vosa, a dark jedi. The bounty was placed on her head by none other than Count Dooku. It's a really great prequel to Episode II, and I'd definitely suggest it.

Gameplay is pretty tight. It's a 3PS, and Jango can also use his jetpack for some neat platforming elements. I guess my only gripe with the game is that there aren't any cover elements; it can really feel like a shoot-'em-up sometimes.

There are bounties placed in each level that you can scan in with Jango's visor. It explains all kinds of information about why a bounty was placed, the person's affiliation, who placed the bounty, etc. It's fun to try and collect all of these.

Familiar locales (off the top of my head) include Coruscant and Tatooine. Coruscant was actually pretty well done here. I was impressed, although it's only a small section of the planet.

Other locations include a high-security prison on an asteroid (you break out a prisoner here, very interesting level!), a space station owned by Roz (a toydarian that helps you find your bounties), and Malastare (the dug-world mentioned by Qui-Gon in Eppy 1, "There's pod racing on Malastare. Very fast, very dangerous."). I won't spoil the remaining worlds (they have a heavy emphasis on the storyline).

Bounty Hunter was released in 2002 for the Playstation 2 and Gamecube. If you still have one of those systems, dust it off because you can pick up this game on Amazon for under $9:

Gamecube Version

Here's a review of the game, IGN gave it a 8.3/10:

I'd definitely suggest Bounty Hunter to any Star Wars fan that missed it back in '02. It's no KotOR, but it's a good game in its own respect.

It was a great game, but was it different on PS2? I had the gamecube version, and I always felt that the system was lacking. I also had The Clone Wars on it too and wasn't very good.
Bounty Hunter was great because Jango didn't run out of fuel for his jet pack. I hate it when games give you some lame excuse for limiting your characters abilities. Like Wolverine only being able to use his claws for 10 seconds!

I found the game to be extremely difficult myself. I never found most of the Bounties, and had to use some weird cheat code to beat it. The last level was too hard. Some glitch made me invincible, but my body from the torso up was pulled to the top corner of the screen!

I also had to mention the outtakes that were available! I loved them.

It is a pretty difficult game, especially those final Bando Gora levels. I didn't think the final boss was TOO difficult, however.

I have the Gamecube version as well, and that's a good thing. This is probably the only game I've ever heard of that actually runs better on the 'Cube than on some other platform. BH on GC runs at a smooth 60 frames per second, and the textures are significantly better.

I also appreciate that the jetpack is on recharge instead of fuel, but that thing always seemed to run out pretty fast.

And those outtakes were hilarious!

use the flamethrower on the bando gora, makes it alot easier

but yeah it was an excellent game, it was my favorite after KOTOR and Jedi Academy

Wasn't there supposed to be a sequel starring Boba Fett?

I've never heard any rumors or speculation about a sequel, but a Boba Fett game would be awesome. Unfortunately, the chances of LucasArts reviving Bounty Hunter seem very slim :(

It seems that LA just dropped all of their really good video games...
KotOR (kind of), Battlefront, Republic Commando, Jedi Knight series, Dark Forces, etc.

It's a shame that all we ever get is a new TFU and another Lego Star Wars.

^ The Old Republic is kind of a continuation of KotOR, but it's definitely no KotOR III.

He kind of does! I haven't seen Donnie Darko in a long time... Weird movie.

But yeah, that guy is a member of the Bando Gora, a gang that Fett has to take down. They're pretty hard to kill.

As we’re all fans of machinima and those in this thread are interested in the game “Star Wars: Bounty Hunter,” I should direct your attention to a project that came out a few years ago and was discussed over at originaltrilogy.com.

Here’s the basics of the project . . .
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Star Wars: Bounty Hunter" was released in 2002 for the Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube videogame consoles. The game tells an essential story of the Star Wars universe: why and how Count Dooku chose Jango Fett as the template for the clone army. The story in the game takes place ten years before the events of "Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones."

The game marked the first collaboration between LucasArts and Industrial Light and Magic on a game's cinematic cut scenes. In total they created over 30 minutes of cinematics which were interspersed between game levels to advance the storyline.

In 2005, Galactus discovered the .sfd video files on the PlayStation 2 version of the game and converted them to DVD compliant .mpg video files. This began the idea to create a fan preservation DVD project. Over the next year, he gathered as much material as possible from the Internet concerning the game, and mapped out ideas for a DVD project.

In the summer of 2006, MoveAlong agreed to use all the material Galactus had assembled and produce a professional quality DVD. MoveAlong created all the menu screens and handled all technical aspects of authoring the DVD.

The fruition of that partnership is "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game."

The portion of the DVD that is viewable in a standard DVD player contains over 30 minutes of cinematics presented in 16x9 anamorphic widescreen. The audio is in stereo, optimized for Dolby Surround: Pro Logic II. Also included are outtakes, commercials and trailers for the game, behind the scenes clips, character profiles, image slideshows, and even a few easter eggs!

The DVD-ROM portion of the disc includes a comprehensive archive of all things related to "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter." In this section you will find text, images, video, and audio related to the game. From concept art to gameplay videos, game music to the official web site....it's all here. You will also find "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game" DVD case and disc artwork that you can print out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Link for the original release thread is here: Discussion thread for "Bounty Hunter: Beyond The Game" at originaltrilogy.com

(They will be more likely to know where you can download a copy of “Bounty Hunter: Beyond the Game” - and I wouldn’t.)

Just so you know, a version 2.0 of “Bounty Hunter: Beyond the Game” was announced some time ago that will include actual game play to broaden the entire story. A release has not happened yet but you can discuss that project at this thread: [WIP] Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game 2.0

By the way, if they ever do announce the 2.0 version, whomever sees it first should post about it in this thread. (I’ll try to keep my eyes open once I get home.)
Keep up-to-date on the latest information for TSLRCM right here!

I made a movie version of Bounty Hunter too, but evidently you have to be a damn rocket scientist to save videos from a dvd on the computer, same issue with my Jedi Academy movie
