HOLY MOTHER OF SKYWALKER!!!!!!!!!

This is actually happening. Lucas has sold LFL for $4 Billion and Disney are planning a new trilogy, starting in 2015!!!

The price was hefty too... $4 billion! :D

But looking at Disney's records on video games. I believe this is not going to help the Kotor series in any way.

Luke Skywalker better not die this next trilogy!

He might. If the first 6 (I can't believe I'm saying "first 6") films had been released in order, Obi-Wan would have died in the fourth film. Having old Luke pass the lightsaber to the next generation before dying might make sense.

Guys. All the way in Costa Rica the buzz has hit. I don't know what to think. I'm so confused, excited, but just in shock the whole thing. With that announcement it's as if suddenly (ignoring the EU) they didn't live happily ever after and hell goes down after Endor. I am shocked. Speechless. Excited.

Wow

My friend in China found out before I did, because I was asleep. I'm still not entirely convinced I'm not still asleep.

Given the last 3 movies were prequels, my guess is that they are going forward in the series. If they go this route, it will be interesting how they do it though. Casting the same people would mean a huge gap between Ep VI and VII and some of the prior actors may not even want to return for it. Plus, who wants an old Skywalker or Han Solo, unless they are bridging the OT to a new trilogy with new characters.

I'd like to see new people cast for the original characters to keep the story going. That way, you don't have a huge gap between Endor and new movies. Some people may not like different actors portraying the original characters and that's a risk you take, but at least it allows a continuation of the story for characters people already know and love.

Of course, you could go with a completely new story with new characters, but you risk alienating a chunk of the existing fan base -- (i.e. those whose first reaction to this news was negative because they want the story to end). For me, I'd follow whatever new SW story they come up with, but some people may not have an interest beyond the Ep I-VI stories. This probably gives Disney the most room for growth and expansion though as they'd eventually run out of stuff for the original characters. If they go this route, they might as well do the old republic (specifically the Revan story) -- there's lots to make movies about there. I personally enjoy this era more than the galactic republic era, but I doubt Disney will ever do that. Even if the old republic was just featured in a TV show and not in a film, I'd be happy with that, but who knows what will happen.

Disney bought Pixar for 7.4 Billion dollars. They bought LucasFilms for only a mere 4 billion dollars. Pixar was a division for Lucasfilms before they separated into their own company. Lucasfilm has the rights to Star Wars and Indiana Jones, and they have other divisions of their own such as ILM, Skywalker Sound and THX. Because of all these assets, Lucasfilm is more valuable than Pixar, and George Lucas really did get ripped off by Disney.

As for Star Wars Episode 7, 8, 9, and the idea of there being a Star Wars movie every 3 years or so, only one video expresses my thoughts on this.

I'm not sure what to think. Full of hate for obvious reasons but at the same time, I'm kind of interested to see what someone besides Lucas does with Star Wars. I did feel the same way when Disney bought Marvel and yet the Marvel Cinematic Universe is better then ever. I guess its a wait and see for me.

Off Topic but, Varkor and 411? Week for returns much? :P
LONG LIVE KOTOR
