There's a rumour floating around that Darth Vader will be back for the new Star Wars film...

I've seen it in a few places, but here's a link.

Oh God, what is this... if they can't come up with an innovative new story line not drawing on old characters to much and not doing the impossible (ressurecting Vader) then they should just not make any more. Simple.

I thought Anakin Skywalker was redeemed as a force ghost at the end of Return of the Jedi. Why would he return to the dark side with his Darth Vader persona?

I'm sure it will be some absurd explanation. Maybe they cloned him or something. It's a terrible idea to even consider bringing Vader back. His story concluded with ROTJ.

Now you know the real reason Lucas replaced Shaw with Christensen in the Force Ghost shot at the end of ROTJ. ;)

I just wanted to share the Star Wars: Episode 7 simulator with all of you. Basically you get the option of who directs, writes and stars in the upcoming Star Wars film, and the simulator generates "non-existent" reviews of how your Episode 7 idea might turn out. Give it a try, it's actually quite fun! And don't forget to share your results!

TITLE: The Devil Bounties

Written by Joss Whedon

39% Action
31% Epic SF
16% Comedy
13% Romance

Total Production Cost: $177,503,075

Review: "As impressive as the effects are, they never overwhelm the storytelling. Whedon's victory proves no one has nerd-America's pulse better than he."

"If this is the only movie you see this year, and for some it will be, it's probably just as well. Abrams seems right at home with the king of science fiction licenses, even if he can't help but play with audience expectations."

Domestic: $364,606,060
Production Cost: $177,503,075

Thanks for the link, Rev. It seems a combo of Kevin Smith as writer, Joss Whedon directing and Joseph G-L starring would work really well.

Eh. That thing seems random to me, just churning out random reviews, not based on what is actually input into it.

True, but it's still pretty fun. :P

It could do with a wider range of actors though.

This is GREAT news. Disney bought Marvel and we got The Avengers (which I thought was just OK). The writer for the first film won an Oscar for Little Miss Sunshine. A critical element is if John Williams returns, he's the only thing that made the prequels watchable, when the got in a new composer (Kevin Kliner) for the Clone Wars it was disastrous (I can't believe I liked it when it came out).
It seems like the best choices for director have already declined the offer. The lack of George Lucas's direction is a good thing considering the PT's direction.

I don't know about Alfonso Cuaron and Duncan Jones hasn't done enough movies yet to really prove himself. Jon Favreau (Iron Man 1 & 2) would be a good choice.

I still don't understand why people are relieved that George Lucas doesn't "own" the rights to LucasFilms anymore. After the release of Revenge of the Sith, George Lucas did not want to make anymore Star Wars films, and he even announced his retirement earlier, before the announcement of LucasFilm's being sold to Disney. He wasn't interested, and he barely ever did anything with the Star Wars name after Revenge of the Sith. He clearly showed everybody that he was finished with it. But the dimwitted fanboy's cried in terror, wanting George Lucas to go away from Star Wars even after Revenge of the Sith's release. The only Star Wars related thing that has happened after Revenge of the Sith are the Clone Wars movie, and television series that followed it. And you know what? They're both good, and I enjoy them both (yes, even the 2008 movie).

If Star Wars still remained in the hands of George Lucas, and LucasFilm, the only Star Wars related thing we would see are some more Clone Wars episodes, and the live action series (which I doubt will ever happen now). However, now that LucasFilm is in the hands of Disney, we will see three more Star Wars films, which all have a high possibility of having a contrived and mediocre plot. Not to mention the fact that Disney plans to release "more" then three films. So really, Disney is milking out the last remnants of the Star Wars name than George Lucas ever did.

I would prefer Star Wars being kept in the hands of its creator: George Lucas. Star Wars ended with the Ewoks celebrating in Return of the Jedi. They should just leave it there.
