I'm not defending him, or anything (I mean, I don't even know who the hell he is, or what his work history are), but why is he an "idiot"? Care to expand on that?

If you see Prometheus, you will know Rev. Or Google about all the plot problems of Lost.

I'm interested in seeing whether or not they use some of the EU stories set in the probable time period of Episode VII (that is, after the Battle of Endor) as inspiration for the movie, although my gut instinct tells me they won't.

Haven't seen Cowboys and Aliens but Prometheus was a masterpiece and so was Lost so what's your point. Not all movies have to be giant over the top spectacle.

I was referring to the way the general moviegoing crowd received those movies, which was...not very good. I haven't watched Lost, not interested either, but I heard the ending of that series was disappointing for many fans.

To be honest, I thought Prometheus was pretty good too, although I'm certain it could've been miles better. But again, I believe the general consensus is that it was a failure. As for Cowboys & Aliens, haven't watched that either, but honestly, that movie puts me off through its title alone.

I haven't watched Prometheus, but it has received a 73% on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, while that may be subjective to most people, I would hardly classify it as a failure through judging from that score alone.

Yeah, like I said, I don't really regard it as a failure either, although I think they could've taken the time to make it better. There was definitely some untapped potential there. As for the fans of the Alien franchise proper, I've mostly seen reactions of disappointment.

Besides, RT's ratings are based on critics' reviews...not the most accurate way of gauging the general audience's reaction towards a movie.

While RT's rating may not be accurate, I still find them to be more useful than Metacritic's and IMDB. As for Prometheus not living up to its potential, hey I've never seen it before so I honestly wouldn't know. Now to vear this thread back on topic, who here expects to see this in Episode 7? I'm definitely expecting it.

Not saying they're not generally accurate, I think they're fine, apart from the occasional stinker, such as the 76% rating for The Prestige (I know you'll probably not agree with me on this ;) ).

Anyway, the trademark Abrams lens flare is probably one of the only certainties for Episode 7 at this point.

I'm not a big fan of Abrams but as long as Lindelof, Orci and Kurtzman are kept far away from the script, it could be OK.

oh Vadakin - are you ever happy?

Also, stop spamming the AICN talkbacks! Haha I had a chuckle when I saw you pop up there. OF COURSE you would! :P

Oh I'm all over the internet. I'm currently writing an article about the future of Batman on the big screen for a small DC Comics website.

Prometheus was a masterpiece, you say? I think one of its main problem was it was ONLY over-the-top spectacle.

However, let's take this over to the new thread for Prometheus in the Movies section so we can keep this thread from derailing any further.

You don't say. Any chance you'll post the link to that article on these forums when you're done writing it? :)

Btw, what did you think of The Dark Knight Rises (I know this is off-topic, perhaps we could take it to the relevant thread in the Movies section)?

Will do.

As for The Dark Knight Rises, I liked some bits, didn't like others. Overall I guess I was somewhat disappointed.

Getting back to Star Wars, I've mellowed a bit on the choice of Abrams. There's nothing that can be done about it now and in the end, Abrams is a pretty safe choice in that he won't bring anything really new to the table but his style is to emulate, so I expect him to try to emulate the style of the previous films. Just keep those damn writers away from it.
