I can't believe I am the first one to make this topic o.o Who doesn’t love (or curse if you're on the other side of the table) Gilaflame? He is a 4 cost creature with 5K power and Fast Attack. Now while that alone is amazing, he also has a "negative" which is returning to your hand at the end of the turn. While this is a problem if you are trying to build field presence for an overwhelming assault, it also makes him so hard to kill. Pretty much the only way to kill one is with a shield trigger.
He power is tough enough that he can get past most blockers too. And if he can't, well, he has another redeeming quality. He is drakon, so he can be buffed by Blastforge Slaver, up to 7K! or, if you like to run nature, Essence Elf could also make him 6K (or both for a deadly 8K! I bet that though makes those defensive decks shiver).

He is a Very Rare in both Dojo Edition and Rise of the Duel Masters, so he get a nice foil. He also has some great artwork. His price seems to be about $5-8, which is actually very reasonable considering how powerful he is. Most decks that run Fire can make use of him too, especially Rush decks.

Now, for those of you who played Duel Masters, you probably know what I started the topic title with. But some of you may not know what I mean by Pyrofi. Well Gilaflame is based on a Duel Masters card called Pyrofigher Mangus. You may be thinking, "that doesn’t look like the same guy" or "his stats are different".
Well, according to the wiki he actually has the stats of Crimson Ash Lord. However, I personally consider him the revamped Pyrofighter Magus, since the artwork is there. Lots of cards got tweaked between the two games (like the costs on Death Smoke, Terror Pit, Natural Snare/Root Trap, etc). So chances are they felt 3 cost with 3K power was a bit weak, at least for his new rarity (originally a common!) so they buffed him.
Now about the artwork. He doesn’t use Pyrofighter Mangus's original artwork, but he does use the alternate promotional art. Here is a link to the alternate art...right here.

So there you have it. Gilaflame the Assaulter. Now let's all keep talking about how amazing he is =D

Bio you should post a pic of him when making single-card discussion threads.

Gilaflame is one of the best cards in the game, my favorite creature probably.

just an amazing creature. probably my favorite, hands down. and the fact that i currently have 7 copies of him, i think im set for even multiple decks.

his evasion is what makes him incredible. if a shield blast isnt triggered to kill him you will be able to have a creature to play every turn, that your opponent may have absolutely nothing they can do about it.

so yes, just a fantastic card

Aye. Love this card. One of the better costed to it's power cards in the game. Because of it's evasiveness going back to hand I think it would have been too busted of a card if it cost 5 instead and avoided the low level removal shield blasts. I don't expect it's staple status in decks that run fire to go away any time soon. Potentially will keep being good for the entire lifetime of Kaijudo.

Yah, the evasion is pro. There is one other way to "kill" him, which is discard. That is really the only way your opponent can touch him during your turn. But unless he is only card in your hand, he probably won't go away.

Indeed he does. I use this card in my rush deck (and so does pretty much everyone else) and he is the reason you win half the time. With slaver, I can take out a big evo in the blink of an eye.
Decks:
Eluding Abyss
Fight!
Shields holding!
W/F rush

Likes: Opponents that think there is no creature in a rush that can stop their Frogzooka. Opponents who draw into Removal instead of having it as a Shield Blast. Veil Vortex Shield Blast. Specter Claw Shield Blast. Hydra Medusa.
Dislikes: Specter Claw (expect as Shield Blast). Fumes. Gigastand. Skull Shatter. Return to Soil Shield Blast. Bone Blades Shield Blast. Tornado Flame Shield Blast. Terror Pit Shield Blast. Root Trap Shield Blast.

I love this card and hate it at the same time (I only hate it because it's usually what beats me ;) ) It can definitely make darkness/fire rush that much more murderous because even if they do kill him you're pretty much guaranteed to get him back somehow and continue the onslaught.

Fast Attack is so powerful in a metagame filled with freshly new evolutions that can attack the turn they are played.

Bouncing back to the hand is a negative but as pointed out, makes it hard to banish.

Even if it bounces to the hand, if you need it for mana next turn, it can do it. So, it can fulfill a mid-game attacker, and then fall back into a late-game mana or even a late-game finisher that you can swing for the game with.
