This card reminds me of coco lupia a little with the first effect but gets even better with the second effect. Dragons are going to be pretty strong for our first OP season.

Oooohhh me like! I've been waiting for awhile for a card that let's you use less mana. And that Kuragars envoy thing is pretty much a game winner.
Decks:
Eluding Abyss
Fight!
Shields holding!
W/F rush

Ironic that the first "Fire Bird" is actually a Nature card :)

Nonetheless things are shaping around interestingly for 5DRA and 6DSI. Will Dragons become top tier ? Only time can tell :)

And my Hyperspeed gets stronger. It is a bit odd to see a Nature FIRE Bird though. Still, it reminds me a lot of the old Duel Masters Fire Birds.

Also, it isn't the first Fire Bird, it is the second. Kenina the Igniter was the first.

Both abilities are OMG awesome in my book. Wow, at least it doesn't cost 2 or less. It'll take a few turns to get it out.

Such a good card, and only an uncommon!

So glad they made this a level 4. Not higher, not lower. 2000 power and level 4 leaves it susceptible to nearly all heavily played removal.

WotC did a GREAT job balancing this card. Definitely has 2 great abilities attached to it, but also made it easy to deal with as to not make the type of deck it would go in too overpowered.

The thought of ramping even one turn ahead, and getting like hyperspeed out turn 4, followed by pick your 6 cost dragon on turn 5 is very very appealing.

I only see this being good if like you mana ramp fast and get it out by like turn 2/3 and hyperspeed dragon out by like turn 4 otherwise if you see this and coulldnt mana ramp youll be dropping hyperspeed turn 5 regardless of the 1 less mana. Seems situational to me, ill try the card out but not expecting spectacular results either.

Well even if this is played turn 4 and Hyperspeed is the usually turn 5; it still is useful. You could play a turn 6 Tatsurion the Unchained who not only can attack the turn it is played from Hyperspeed, but not can't be blocked by weaker creatures. This card turns every dragon into a Roaming Bloodmane. That alone is pretty impressive in my opinion. I mean stopping a chump block from stopping Moorna can be very useful.
If it just reduced the cost, it would be good, but not great. The blocking effect is really what makes this card in my opinion.

I agree with Zap here. It's not so much the mana reduction as it is the combination of the mana reduction PLUS the blocking effect. The blocking effect pretty much guarantees that your dragons are getting through. And it will only take a couple turns of crazy dragon shenanigans to win a game - barring shield blasts of course.

TBH, I don't think that shield blasts will even slow a good dragon deck too much unless they come out with stronger removal. I mean if you had a Belua, Hyperspeed, and Moorna, Gatling Dragon and hit a Sparkstorm, it delays you a turn, maybe they pick off the Belua. If you hit a Veil Vortex, that won't do much help since no matter what they bounce it can just come back next turn without losing any steam. If you hit a Terror Pit or Root Trap, it puts them in a tough spot. Kill the Moorna and you can still play another that fast attack's unblockable. Kill the Hyperspeed and you still got an unblockable Moorna. Kill the Belua and you still got Fast Attacking Dragons.
Although removal like Tornado Flame, Bone Blades, and Return to Soil will make the choice far easier. Still, even a Terror Pit shield may not hinder too much if you can't follow up with another strong play. I guess that is already true for a lot of decks, but with the newer Dragon decks I think we will see a lot more combos going on than before (e.g. 3+ cards that all affect each other but removing 1 still leaves a lot of danger).

Nice analysis of the card. Belua won't be to everyone's tastes in a good card but I can see it being fairly good in the type of deck it's intended for. Going to be a fairly crowded field for support cards between this, the herald, Twin-cannon Maelstrom and anything else coming our way. Thanks for the link.
