So we finally see what Infernus is about and he's... uh, really really strong, and man, if there's not a Fire Bird cycle, I don't know what you'd call this Kenina after seeing Belua:

I don't understand why everyone keeps thinking you have to hard cast this. Is everyone forgetting this card is coming in February?

http://kaijudo.wikia.com/wiki/Hammer_Dragon_Foulbyrn

The dragons scream combo deck much like how MTG R/G ramp decks work.

Mind you, I still want to see the other dragons in this set. They could show other ways to get them in. But the way I see you getting these big guys in is to combo them into the field of play. You will need to be creative and I think that can happen with what I currently see and what could possibly come.

I will say that 95% of the time, if not more, the triple breaker will be useless. However, I still do believe this is the best 9 cost card to be printed so far. The original Terrordragon is good because of his built removal. But you'd run this card over Moorna the Vengeful easily. And of the two 9 cost dragons that have been revealed, this guy is far more devastating (or at least consistently devastating since the other is more chance).

I do think it is unfair to say this card won't be useful in the meta game when we only saw like 5 cards of a 60 card set. Saying that 9 cost is too high and thus he is deadwieght doesn’t make much sense to me. Control decks run Bolt-Tail; that is 8 cost. Compare this card to Bolt-Tail; 1 more cost for a lot more effect. Sure it isn't a Fast Attacker, but if you just terror pitted away your opponents field, this can easily be checkmate. Unless they can play a bigger dragon, they need to remove it before they can play a good bit of their deck. And even then, it will probably break all their shields left.

As for mana ramping, I think it fairly possible already. Spourt is only turn 2, unless you count prickleback/blaze blecher and manabind (which I wouldn't rule out). Then by turn 3 you use a Fire Bird or Bronze-Arm Tribe. Now on turn 4 you can drop Hyperspeed, Herald, or a Mana Storm. By turn 5, you will have a good chance of playing a big dragon. If you mana stormed you got like 7 or 8 mana and could drop Tatsurion the Unchained or Bolt-Tail. If you got Herald, you can drop near anything.
The odds of that are high enough that I can see Fire/Nature Hyperspeed decks getting a lot quicker. Maybe Tier 2 if not Tier 1. Also, the example was excluding Reap and Sow and Razorhide, which both could make the deck as well to help with inconsistence. There is a good chance we will see some sort of new mana ramp in the set as well; however, I bet we will also see stronger removal (maybe even dragon hate removal). I can see this card being to Hyperspeed decks what Bolt-Tail is to Control; but as powerful as it is when you get it out, it isn't the decks centerpiece.

Well, in my opinion, Konami is doing decent, but could do better. They need to stop making 1 insane broken deck for every format. Other then that, most decks do take skill and I have yet o see a single 8000 attacker on the board sir

No deck requires skill, there all themed and pretty much run themselves. And when i say put 8k on the board i dont mean an 8k monster (figured thatd be obv) i mean they can spam xyzs/synchros/normal monsters to the point they have over 8/9k on board and win that turn and every single tier deck can do that which is unhealthy and stupid. Yugioh is going way down hill and is at the point where the games ruined. And i state again, no skill left. You can disagree all you like but at the end of the day you probably lost to an otk and whined about getting sacked and still attempt to argue there is skill when no duel ever proves there is. Game is traaash now. Its all over priced cardboard with no prize support (mats, packs, and cards is NOT ok for a game thats been around so long and costs so much to play)

Yes let us keep this thread on topic. If we want to discuss YGO vs. KJD then we should make a new thread.

Agreed. Feel free to start a new topic but stick to discussing the cards in question in this one. It's back on the rails now so lets keep it that way.

Infernus's name on this card makes me think he will not be the only variant we see of him. I mean in the show he is called "Infernus, the Immolator", so we may see more variants of him down the line...

Ugh. That is the one thing I dislike the most about Kaijudo. Too many reinterpretations of the mascot creatures. Makes them a lot less unique feeling then I think they should be. Though I'm willing to bet that there will be alt versions of Infernus down the road. :X

I agree with captain. Too. Many. Variants (I'm looking at you, Tatsurion) It just ruins the originality. I can see maybe one or two, but 5+ is a bit much.

As long as my Bacon Lover Tatsurion is the last Tatsurion variant, I'll be happy. :P

Just powering up those dragons, I already have the feeling Infernus is going to be banned from official tournament, or just limited to one per deck. And for the other dragons, there's always the power up cards from Rise of The Duel Masters and Evo Fury.

Still, I want to see what they will do for Water or Darkness dragons in Dragonstrike.

Personally, I don't mind the multiple versions. Why make it something different when you can add a new side to an old card. Like Moorna for example, it got 2 versions (3 if you count Gatling Skyterror). Tatsurion may have gotten a few too many though.

Infernus's place is mainly in a control deck. Most beatdown decks rely on weenies (evo baits and such), and if the control deck reaches the endgame, those beatdown decks are crippled. Control decks, while they rely more on spells and finishers, still have utility creatures like Fumes and Rusalka that Infernus stops.

Banned? No.
