The idea is, you cast defense mode on Reflector, then whenever your opponent attacks with more than 1000, you can block and tap all his/her creatures. Thoughts?

I wish there was a card that made your opponent attack cuz that would make Defense Mode somewhat better. Maybe in future sets there will be cards that will do that. But yeah if you can get your opponent to attack then this would be a pretty cool combo, but then again if you wanted to tap all your opponents creatures you can use [card]Stormspark Blast[/card].

True, you could use stormspark, but there's always Spellbane Dragon. That, and this is a little cheaper.

Also you'd be losing Reflector Cannon and be at -2 just to tap all opponent's creatures but with Stormspark you'll be at -1 and it's faster. And won't Spellbane Dragon affect Defense Mode too?

Defense Mode is bad. The combo doesn't make it better.

Yeah....brain fart. Spellbane would just trigger anyways. I didn't sleep well lol. But Blitzer, I really think it has potential. You need to wait before you say that, cards seem dumb at one time but can turn around completely later. I think it still needs some testing.

Maybe if we had something like Giovanni, I'd consider using it.

The idea of him being a Blocker is a great one of course, but the execution and practical application now is horrible. Even if he constantly had Blocker all that would do is NOT to activate his effect but become just an uncomfortable blocker that prevents your opponent from acting for a while and maybe a target for non-banish removal. All of these are useful gains of course, but still not what you might be looking for.

The combo is not all that good because you have to think about the difficulties of practical gain. You are using 2 cards for a turn's worth of special tactical advantage (that the opponent can still mess with) and then nothing. Which is only good if you can play it against JUST the right kind of deck and JUST when the opponent is planning a big move (and the most dangerous one I can think this helps against is Overcharge).

Point is, too little strategic gain.

Defense Mode is kind of cool, albeit impractical however. Lets you play certain big fat creatures for position and gain but still be safe and has kind of cool combos with some. Still not good tho'.
