I love what they did with the artwork of Radioactive Horn from Duel Masters. This guy reminds me of Cutthroat Skyterror from DM, except he has less power and doesn't return to the hand. I think he'll be pretty good against rush decks. He can even go toe-to-toe with [card]Laser-Arm Drakon[/card]. |

Well I'm inclined to think of this guy as less of a creature and more of a creature removal spell. Instead of paying 3 to kill a creature 3000 or less you pay 3 to hopefully kill a creature 4000. Or better yet to kill a smaller creature and keep killing. That said, I'm not really sold on skirmishers if they don't have blocker as well. To many times, they only do something after the damage has already been done. |

What do you guys think of this guy now that [card]Weaponized Razorcat[/card] has been reveiled? I personally would rather run Razorcat than Smolderhorn unless I were focusing on Tuskers. I mean the Fast Attack surprise effect is nice, but the Skirmisher effect really holds Smolderhorn back IMO.. |

I wouldn't overlook the fact that this has Fast Attack combined with skirmisher. That's this card's selling point. You can use it out of nowhere to attack and kill an enemy creature. That's why I compared it to a removal spell. If you think of it that way, would you rather run this or [card]Heat Seekers[/card] is the question you really should be asking.

But you can kill untapped creatures with Heat Seekers (Fire Birds, Scaradorable of Gloom Hollow), while Smolderhorn requires them to be tapped (which can really good in FNL decks and their tap effects). |

Yes, this does have it's limitations, like all skirmishers do. But in theory you can kill a 4000 powered creature with this which is 1k more than Heat Seekers and in theory you can kill multiple creatures with this one card which is also more. Don't get me wrong, I would most likely choose Heat Seekers over this card in most decks for the reason you pointed out, but it is comparable. |
