Okay, this is the other deck I was thinking about playing on Saturday. Basic strategy is pretty simple. Play blockers and defend until I get a panopter into play. After that, spam out blockers to draw cards and eventually play Rally to swing for the win. I just wish there was another spell or creature that had a similar effect as Rally the Reserves. Even if it only affected a certain number of creatures with skirmisher or guard and gave them something else as well, I would play it. Oh well, here is to future sets for such a card. *raises glass* Without further ado, here is the deck. Creatures (41) 2x [card]Thunder Cruiser[/card] (L) 2x [card]Cyber Sprite[/card] (W) 3x [card]Rain-Cloud Kraken[/card] (L) 2x [card]Sun-Stalk Seed[/card] (L) 3x [card]Aqua Strider[/card] (W/L) 3x [card]Reef-Eye[/card] (W) 3x [card]Jade Monitor[/card] (L) 2x [card]Orbital Observer[/card] (L) 2x [card]Fluorogill Manta[/card] (W) 3x [card]Keeper of Clouds[/card] (L) 3x [card]Frogzooka[/card] (W) 3x [card]Keeper of Twilight[/card] (L) 3x [card]Current Charger[/card] (L) 2x [card]Panopter[/card] (W/L) 2x [card]Grand Gure, Tower Keeper[/card] (L) 3x [card]Lyra, the Blazing Sun[/card] (L) Spells (3) 3x [card]Rally the Reserves[/card] (L) As you can see, I am favoring light civ over water because all things equal, having skirmisher is better than having guard. That said, I do have plenty of water blockers so that I can put them into my mana zone in order to play my multi-colored cards easier. Everything in this deck is a blocker, panopter, or rally the reserves except for 2 cards which are both three ofs. First I have 3 Current Chargers just in case I run against an unlucky shield blast which stops my attack. Second I have 3 Lyras because they are really good cards. At one time I had more tap effects, but I took most of them out in favor of more blockers and cheaper ones so that I could spam them out and draw multiple cards a turn if I ever got Panopter out. At this point I am thinking about taking them outin favor of something else that actually works with the deck more. Perhaps [card]Keeper of Dawn[/card]? I want to say there is a white spell or creature that looks for a spell but I can't remember what it is. |

I forgot about that card. I'm going to put 2 of those in and take out the Orbital Observers. Both cards are 3000s for 3 so it isn't as if I'm giving up power and with this many blockers I doubt Orbital's ability to untap itself will mater at all. It's a shame that it only effects skirmishers and only effects one, but I suppose it's better than nothing. |

I think you need [card]Reef Scout[/card] and other cards that will get you closer to Panopter and Rally the Reserves. Crystal Memory for example can get you Panopter by turn 5. and since Panopter is one of the key cards in this type of deck I would probably max him out. Also maxing out on the level 1 creatures is probably another good idea because you'll be able to spam blockers. IMO Current Charger is really situational. |

Why no [card]Wave Lancer[/card]? Wouldn't [card]Stormspark Blast[/card] be good here too? Defensively and offensively? In addition to [card]Reef Scout[/card], [card]Coral Claw[/card] gives you additional draw power. [card]Seer Serpent[/card] can search for Rally, but [card]Crystal Memory[/card] would be better. [card]Sunspout Quartz[/card] might be fun, but probably isn't necessary. Hope that helps! |
| I might add something cool here later. | |

Well I got the General Finbarr deck yesterday so the deck now has a 3rd Panopter. I think I see what you guys are getting at. It isn't just raw power that I need to worry about but other abilities as well. I assumed Wave Lancer might be too expensive manawise, but I might reconsider that. I don't have any Stormspark Blast, so that really isn't an option. I don't have Seer Serpent nor Crystal Memory, but seeing how I'm broke and Seer Serpent would be easier to trade for I might go for that one. Current Charger is there in case I run into a Stormspark Blast so that I don't autolose in that situation. |

Okay this is the deck I played today and it was fun. That said, I learned a few things. First, I needed some bigger blockers in the deck. Spamming out smaller blockers is fun and all, but if they keep dying like flies then I won't ever build up enough to counter attack. I also discovered that blockers that returned to your hand are very very good. I addition, I found that deck does have room for blockers that aren't all about raw power, but instead have useful abilities like drawing cards. I got home and modified the deck and this is what it ended up looking like. Creatures (41) 2x [card]Cyber Sprite[/card] 2x [card]Thunder Cruiser[/card] 3x [card]Rain-Cloud Kraken[/card] 2x [card]Sun-Stalk Seed[/card] 3x [card]Aqua Strider[/card] 2x [card]Spire Zealot[/card] 3x [card]Jade Monitor[/card] 3x [card]Keeper of Clouds[/card] 3x [card]Coral-Claw[/card] 3x [card]Reef Scout[/card] 3x [card]Rapids Lurker Wwhhshrll[/card] 2x [card]Current Charger[/card] 3x [card]Wave Lancer[/card] 3x [card]Panopter[/card] 2x [card]Grand Gure, Tower Keeper[/card] 2x [card]Citadel Magistrate[/card] Spells (3) [card]Rally the Reserves[/card] If nothing else, having bigger skirmishers in there will make playing Spire Zealot more appealing. Please note that I changed a lot of the water cards in this deck. Except for Cyber Sprite, at this point any mono-water card has to have some ability going for it or it doesn't get in. I ended up losing one game because I got nothing but them in my hand and a bunch of powerful attackers where too powerful for them to kill when they attacked and I couldn't counter attack them. |
