This thread's purpose is to plan the basic Constitution of Kansedland. We'll decide on what government positions there will be, how much power they will have, and how it will all work out. First of all, I think we can all agree that Kansedland should be some form of democracy/republic. Agreed? Feel free to post any random ideas. Second Draft

Yeah, I think that would work best, to allow the nations to influence the direction. |

Okay, well considering nobody else has signed up yet, we may as well go on. Also, I noticed you mentioned in the other thread that you're a "complete newbie" to this, so I'll try to give you an idea of what's going on. Really, it can be a little confusing at first (Especially when it gets really wordy) but it's not that hard once you get used to it. So, we may as well decide the function of the two in-game positions that definitely exist, the Founder and the WA Delegate. I've found that normally the Founder has very limited power, or else just ceremonial, and the WA Delegate works like the President, although that seems to change a lot. A personal suggestion of mine is until Kansedland has a decent number of active nations (Say about 6 who post at least once every other day or so) we should have a simple government where the WA Delegate and the Founder have to both agree on any laws being written, and then once we have a nice population add another branch, like Congress. Or else, what we could try out is a direct democracy where every citizen may vote on a law. What do you think? Btw, what's your nation's name? |

Maybe letting the nations all decide on what laws to pass, and then have them put forward to the WA Delegate and the Founder, and then they have to both agree? Then like you said, once we have more people we can add another branch. And my nation's The Free States of Albion.

You mean like the people vote on a law, and if it gets a majority of votes, it gets passed on to the WA Delegate and Founder and they have to both approve it in order for it to be passed? That's a good idea, but how about in that situation, if the people vote for the law with a 2/3 majority only either the Founder or the WA delegate has to approve it. That prevents a stubborn Delegate or myself from overriding the clear desire of the majority. Also, do you think a good term period for a WA Delegate would be two months? Like, if over 2/3s vote, then it only needs one final vote? But anything from like 3/5s or whatever up needs two? That should work, although we'll definitely need a third branch at some point to balance out the final vote. And yeah, I think that sounds good. Gives them time to make changes without letting them run forever. |

Now I think we should determine the boundaries of the government. Well, I have a few ideas of government limits/rights. 1) The government won't interfere with roleplays. 2) Nations have the right to vote how they want in the WA. 3) Nations have the right to vote for whomever they want for government positions without fear. Any other ideas? Also, I personally do not see the need for a term limit for the WA Delegate as of now. Frankly, we don't have enough people to make that happen, and why stop the people from reelecting a candidate they like? |

I'm not really sure what else could go there. (Mostly due to ignorance, unfortunately.) It sounds pretty good to me. Maybe something saying nations have the right to run themselves as they want, as long as they follow the Region's laws? Not having a term limit sounds good. I think eventually though we might need/want something like that though, to make sure the same few people don't keep getting re-elected without giving anyone else a chance. |

Well, I found the rights of nations from an old region I made: 1- Any nation has the freedom to come and go as they please. 2- Any nation, unless they have committed an act of treason against the region in the past, may run for office. 3- No nation may be banned without good reason. 4- No nation will be prosecuted for speaking out against the government. 5- Every nation has the right to at least two endorsements. I think we can incorporate the other ones into that list. Also, I'd suggest joining the World Assembly. It has a lot of benefits, such as the ability to vote for WA resolutions, run for WA Delegate, and endorse WA Delegates. Besides, the more WA member nations in a region, the more influential a region is. |

Yeah, I think all together that work really well. Yeah, I'm basically just getting a feel for the game right now. I'll probably apply in the next day or two. : P |
