got the 17 hmr last winter and love it but haven't seen the 17 wsm . googled it and it had mixed reviews but that is typical of any thing

Im having lots of trouble with the one I have. Everthing from the clip wont take shells right to powder in your face when you fire it.

wish I could have had this info sooner but I was talking to a gunsmith friend Saturday when I had him order me a saiga 12ga and I asked him about the 17 wsm and he confirmed what your experiencing , he said that the ones he has seen in his shop are pieces of crap and he wouldn't even order one for anybody they are that bad but would recommend the 17hmr

I had one of the 17 mags for a while and it did a outstanding job. It was very accurate and I never had no trouble from it. The reason I got rid of mine was because the 17 mag was too big to be a little gun and it wasn't big enough to be a big gun. It was in between the big and little to me. I think the 17 HMR is a lot better for squirrel hunting.

savage is comming out with the new A17 in march. its a semi- auto and special ammo upgrade to make it 100 fps faster.
