This is a pup out of Black Jacks Cajun from her last litter. My cousin Glen from Breaux Bridge La. has had race horses for 40 yrs and has now cut back on the horses and decided to try a squirrel dog. He got Cal from me at 6 weeks old and has done a great job of getting Cal in the squirrel woods. He wishes he would bark more but I told him he is just a baby and will get better at all of this with age.Cal was in the classified in the Litter I named the 7 cajuns last june.

This is Cal today at 7 months old.

These Kemmer Hybrids are game minded from the get go and they only get better as they get older. They have good noses and if it moves they see it. Nice looking dog Calvin.

My cousin Glen has never owned a squirrel dog but had Brittney's years ago so he does know dogs. He asked me what he needed to do train this pup when he left with Cal at 6 weeks old. I told him 6 weeks old was the best age to bond with a pup so spend some time with him and become his buddy the show him some easy squirrels and take him to the woods often.Glen has done that with this pup and has been telling me about him tracking and winding and trying to tree wild squirrels since he was 3 months old. Cal is now finding squirrels and he is at the tree but not barking a lot I'd say he will get better at barking with more squirrels killed over him and Glen praising him. This a perfect example what good breeding will do if pups are handled and not left in a pen all year till the season opens.

I bred Cajun Rose to Cajun Cal last week. Cal and 3 of his littermates have really done well their first season. They are now 10 months old and I remember 25 plus yrs ago breeding Cajun Nugget at 10 months and had 10 pups. Some of those pups became fine coon and squirrel dogs.
