Charlie, you were asking about Wally the other day, well I took him out for awhile this morning and here he is. He sure likes the smell of a squirrel, and rabbits, and well deer to. He thought "come here" meant go away and "STOP' meant "run the deer abit harder".
Well, the shock collar straightened up his undersrtanding of english pretty well and he actually handled well after the initial grammer lessons. He has a really nice chop on the tree and seems to have a good nose as well. He is impressive for a pup that isn't a year old yet. He likes quite abit on being the squirrel dog that Jack is but he hasn't seen anywhere the woods time Jack has seen. He is at the point where I need to start hunting him by himself and let him get confidence in himself. He tends to want to stand behind Jack when Jack is treed and I could tell by watching them that he is just letting Jack be the lead dog. I think he would look really good on his own and I am going to get him out by himself. I just needed Jack there with him to check the tracks he was running so I would know if he was straight or not and until I get confident that he is through with the fast game, I will keep him with Jack for abit and make sure he is getting the right game. Sorry for all the rambling, James
