Took Walley out this evening after my family's christmas gathering, needed to walk off some turkey. Walley didn't do a bad job for a green pup but he needs some experience. He treed 3 trees, about half a dozen barks each, once he would tree, he would tear out and look for another one. I checked the first 2 trees and they were empty but the 3rd had the meat. I called him back to that tree, tied him so he couldn't get away and he started treeing on the tree again. I shot under the squirrel to get it to timber and he went bonkers after he saw it. I turned him loose then and he stayed with the squirrel and really hammered on it. I let him tree on it for abit and just was going to knock it out and another squirrel jumped that I hadn't seen and Walley stayed with it but I knocked it out since it was heading for a hole. After that one, Walley went back to the original squirrel and treed a few barks on it and I knocked it out to. I don't know how many it will take to make him stick the tree but I think he has gotten used to treeing by himself and not getting game knocked out so he has learned to just go looking for another one. Here is a pic of him treeing on the first squirrel before the last one timbered. Thx for looking, James |

Here was his reward. This was the second squirrel, I couldn't get a pic of him treeing on that one since it was about to get away. I am liking him pretty well, he seems to wind alot and I really like that in a cur. |
