The Gators are like snakes and go into hybernation or what ever you call it...lol but they do come out when it warms up and today it must be in the high 70s they could be out laying in the sun...lol |

I'd have a hard time convincing myself to squirrel hunt there then, have to wait until dark and coon hunt and hope for the best, don't guess those snake boots would help a whole lot with the gators

nice pic's of a good hunt.wondering do the gators get many dogs you know lots of people that come here & buys a pup say if mtns. like this is all they had to hunt, they proably wouldn't be hunters.but i tell them i'll take the mtn over the gators, hurricanes and a lot of other stuff that happens in flatter country guess it boils down to what one is used to. |

I have not lost a dog to gators yet but they are really getting over populated. Last spring during the gator breeding season there were 3 found on the road within a mile of my house one was a 12 footer. My son lives about 1 mile from me and an 8 footer was walking through his neighborhood. These things were not seen 20 yrs ago. There is a gator season the month of Sept. they give out tags to hunters. You get so many tags per 1000 acres you are leasing. they need to increase on the tagas per acre we are seeing far to many gators these days. I know they are far from the indangered list now. Sorry for rambling but getting back to the question...lol I hear stories of a lot of Labs being lost to gators in the Geydon area where duck hunting is big. They start hunting TEAL in Sept. and there are lots of gators out at that time hell its still 100 degree temps. |

Cajun, I talked a good while this evening with Jimino and I told him about this pic and he told me to look it over real good and make for sure it was a coon cause yours and Charlies dogs treed 3 possums to, and he wanted to be sure it was the right tree. He also told me that he was mistreated by you guys, when his dog was being polite and not crowding the tree and you guys accused his dog of baying the creek. Sounds like a hunt I would have liked to been on. He is just one of the funniest guys I have talked to. I left the spring hunt thinking he could have been a stand up comedian. One of the lines that got me laughing today was when he said, "as long as I got a kemmer dog and a sweet tater patch, I won't have to eat no possums.". Then he told me how to bake up a coon and of course I bombarded him with questions about puppy training. He's one in a million, that's for sure. JJ |

James there is never a dull monent with Jimino. He did tell the truth Charlies dog did tree Possum...lol I am not sure what is wrong with Hank but He didn't tree with the dogs last nite. Jimino loves to remind me that these dogs will aggravate you to death if you let them...lol..We did have a great time and always will enjoy the wit and the wisdom of Jimino Thompson |

James, let me set the record straight! Duke treed 5 possums(two in one tree). Jimmino shorthed me 2 possum. Sounds just like him. We(Duke!!) made two coon trees one with the meat. The first tree was along a new dug canal. Jimminos plott swam that canal to start with trailing coon as did all the dogs but he and Mullet came back across working track down my side of canal. Duke treed on the other side about 50 yards. Calvin and I were watching and Jimmino was on the 4 wheeler making sure no one would steal it. For some reason Mullet and Rock would not cross the canal again and started treein on the canal bank. I eased up to Mullet and shoved him in and he swam across and went to tree. I also shoved Rock in and he swam back to me. I told Calvin I was going around to get to dogs. Jimmino was way down at the powerline so I got to the dogs before he got to the tree. Rock sounded like a million dollars baying on the canal bank. I could hear Jimmion saying "now that is how a dog is suppose to tree a coon." When he got to tree, he had a funny look and said what was rock doing. I said he is baying the canal bank or maybe he has such a great nose he can tree the coon without getting wet. Jimmino wanted some bullets to put in my .22 so he could shoot a couple of times to see if Rock would come across. As he was loading, he said you know what I really want to do with this gun don't you. I wanted to find that coon real bad just to rub it in a little more!!! We had a great time as always. I promise you there is never a dull moment hunting when you have a Dago, Coon Ass and an Indian hunting together!! James the way you hunt in the swamps is to just not look for any bad critters. They are there if you want to find them!! |
